Fitting the engine was a pain in the ares, the front panels so much higher than a round front mini..
As the starter housing just clears the front panel the front of the gearbox hits the front of the subframe and the diff Housing hits the rear, that’s with the proper lifting tool..
Then you fit the rad bit by bit last. I guess they fitted it all from underneath in the factory..

I always take the whole out from underneath. Much easyer and not so dangerous for making scratches

Little question: did you fit the brake servo under the wing?

I’ve not fitted a servo, I’m not a big fan of them.
It dose have a brake bias valve as there’s no wait on the rear end!

Aaron and I had a few hours in the garage today.
We’ve finished a list of small jobs but most importantly got he engine running, all good so far.
We’ve now got a 20 point job list, then I’m just waiting for seats, bumpers and a few small bits from the paint shop..

That is looking fantastic 8-) I reckon it'll scare you to death when you drive it though
I only drove a Moke once and I didn't feel very safe in it. You feel very exposed. And that was just an 850!

I bet you can't wait to get it running :D

leo from moke panels normally builds up the engine rad etc in the front subframe and gets some one to help him give a hand to lift the body over the front subframe so it all goes in from underneath. thanks
Peter

Hi Peter
If I had to do it again that’s exactly what I’d do, to fit the rad etc afterwards was painful!
Leo’s body is excellent but one of the early challenges was fitting the front subframe, I build/restore classic cars every day but the front subframe on this one took some doing and I didn’t want to remove it again..

Almost there 2 steps forward 1back!

Still waiting for seats and bumpers from the paint shop, the indicators need replacing and seat belts fitting.
The oil pressure and temperature gauges will be in later, there’s a 10,000 smiths rev counter but no pod at the mo..
I’m still struggling with the clutch, but we have had a small road test :D

I’ve ran out of money! The worlds most expensive moke!
Nearly finished,
Had a few clutch problems hopefully that’s sorted, I’ll know more when I can have a full test drive.
Still waiting for seats and bumpers, I can’t really pressure the paint shop I’m a small fish in a big pond and there doing mates rates.
There’s about 5 other small jobs to complete.
Then MOT , rolling road & final shake down/set up.
I was going to trailer it to blyton but with it incomplete I didn’t really want to.
The problem I have now is it’s to nice to use! I may sell it and buy a scruffy one that the kids can climb on and I can leave outside the pub!
Who knows what’s next I also fancy an early GT!
I’ll post some more pictures soon (hopefully)

No such thing as "Too nice to use" use it & you will soon forget how nice it was to begin with, but you will have a million brilliant memories as a bonus.

You Moke looks stunning, PLEASE get it finished & drive it.

There is no grin bigger than that of a Moke owner on a sunny day.

No longer is your Moke a Kit of Bits.. so you could now contact & book in with Tim @ Hagerty for Stowe School on 25th May ..your travel distance must be at least 5 mile "each way" so should not be too much stress on the Moke .. see you there ? :D
