Sorry guys! for intruding into all the lovely MK1 cars still hanker after another one,
but time is not on my side :(
Nice to see the Contessa on the front page of the latest BMC mag,

Only been doing localish shows so far this year so far, looking forward to taking it
to Chateau Impney , lets hope the weather improves.
As a bit of interest, probably doesn't concern most on here but I got challenged by
an Retired Traffic Cop at a local show about the legality of my no plates???

Retired Traffic Cop is not up to date on latest regs.....
DVLA has since 2015 allowed all Historic Tax class cars (40 year rolling) to display black silver plates if they wish:-

Quote from page 11 of latest INF104 document:-
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ber-plates

Traditional number plates for vehicles made before 1 January 1973. Vehicles made before 1 January 1973 may display traditional ‘black and white’ number plates (for example, white, silver or grey characters on a black plate). From April 2019 vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1979 are also able to display traditional ‘black and white’ number plates.
You must:
• have applied to DVLA
• be registered within the ‘historic vehicles’ tax class.
The 40-year exemption date rolls forward automatically each year on 1 April."

Thanks Martin, I had not seen this! The Mini Picnic day was a fantastic day out in these trying times
organised by AndyaceHarrison on private land owned by a serious Mini/MINI owning farmer friend of
Andys!
Sadly due to local lockdown situation doubt if there will be any more this year!!
The Contessa has been out to a few other small local events and to Gaydon Mini/Metro show, lets
hope by the early spring next year things will be NEARLY back to some sort of normal!
I for one would hate to make The Countess a garage queen like it seems so many rare Coachbuilt Minis
and other cars are!!

This is an other photo on an evening Yorkshire Region MCR meeting, looking over Bradford with Andy Harrison,
Halifax built , Oyler Contessa, Shipley based Mini specialist. :D :D :D

Sadly since the Yorkshire Motor sport weekend ( that for me started on the Thursday evening
and ended mid afternoon on FridayI spent most of that day answering the where is how do I get in contact with! questions from a fair
number of people til I could after some serious Cancer surgery 6 weeks previously!!not take any more,
I at my wife's insistence went home to get warmed up its seems by all accounts the rest of the weekend
went well, having been a hill climb spectator ++ since the early 60s ! I can't remember the Old Rest and Be
Thankful which was part tarmac and part lose gravel ! brave Drivers then !!! It seems a pity that some of the known
historians , of our little cars can't remember the names of rare car owners when writing reports for well known club Mags
:( :!:

Due to other health issues both mine and the real countess my wife of 50years at the moment the Contessa is in
my garage for the meantime 8-) 8-) :( :!:

Last time out at a local show near Wakefield

I couldn't resist this When I started serving my apprenticeship in early 60s we were storing these ! remember getting
a dressing down from my boss for beacking a half shaft trying to do donuts

Frank, very sorry to hear of your wife's and your own health issues. I wish you both a speedy recovery and that the Contessa is not confined to the garage for too long. I did notice the name mix up of rare car owners in the MCR magazine Yorkshire Motor Festival report (Brian Hulbert :?: ). Perhaps Pete can get a correction (with a photo of youself and the Contessa) printed in the next MCR magazine?

Many years ago a friend of mine with an MG Midget broke a half shaft doing the same thing!

Looks like you had a cracking day at the Walton show, we ended up going to Newby Hall instead. I've been to the odd meeting at the Heath but they haven't been lucky with the weather this year. Look after yourselves and hopefully catch up with you soon.

Thanks for the comments guys! I have kind of got my Mojo back! I went for a run out yesterday and visited Andy Harrison
at ACE SPEED in Shipley, driving home its amazing how even a heavy 1098ccc Clubman can cope with the Bradford rush hour!!
had kind of forgotten how nimble a Mini is with Minispares EVO cones and KYB gas adjust dampers.

I have an entry for YTCC show at Netherton Sport & Social Club on the 29th August :)
The reason for the Ace Speed visit was to get the Contessa on Andys stand as a Yorkshire
Coachbuilt car, I was lucky enough to win The Overall Pride of ownership & Best Mini at
The 2019 Bradford Classic in City Park Bradford.

I do intend to send in my version of The Yorkshire Motor Sport to Cooper World sometime
soon

Indeed...
I think parts of Bradford are about the only place near here that 5G is available wouldn't surprise me,
Having said that its nice to get a trophy that is solid cut glass and has some weight. to it.

Too late, a detailed digital 3D copy of Frank's Contessa may already have been automatically uploaded via the 5G spy mast trophy allowing fake reverse engineered Chinese copies of the Contessa soon to start appearing on Ebay.... :o
