You might be sorry you said that, I've got hundreds !!![/quote]

Good....your photos should keep this thread running for some time yet!

I like the way your photos are all neatly captioned, did you do this at the time or have you just got a good memory of events and add them while scanning?

I am adding the captions as I scan them, I have got quite a good memory of events but will admit to having a look at some result sheets to help fill in a few gaps in the old brain cells, well it is 35 years ago. :?

OK...a couple more in the race paddock here from Brands Hatch 31st July 1983

(According to the DVLA website the red Minivan MUV 878L (May 1973) was last taxed in 24th Sept 1991 so looks like it lasted another 8 years).

Great pics,

nice mini van, what model had that single rear door ?
I thought only our local made Mini IMA's had them.... although the IMA's door opens vertically.

Cheers

The one-piece rear doors in the UK were aftermarket items made of fibreglass with a perspex rear window.
Minispares and others still sell them to customer order:-

Following on from the paddock photos posted earlier in this thread, I have scanned some on track action photos of my late brother Steve Bell's Mini Se7en (Wood & Pickett/Moss/Tyrrell - No.40) from the early 1990's.

That's a cracking set of action shots mab, thanks for posting, particularly like the Cadwell shot as previously mentioned and the steely eyes in the last of the action shots.

These was taken by me in the Brands Hatch paddock (I think) in the late 1970's.
These very quick green Longman short-stroke 850cc Mini's were driven by Neil Dineen and Peter Crouch.

I posted these photos on the Ten Tenths Motorsport forum some time back and a recent reply from Mike Parker as quoted below has added some interesting info on the Longman built 850cc short stroke engine as used by Neal Dineen and Peter Crouch:-

"Hi there
My name is Mike Parker. I was racing in the late 60's/ early 70's. Triplex, Osram GEC special saloon car chmpionships etc etc.The longman short stroke engine that was used by Neal Dineen and Peter Crouch was in fact my short stroke engine. It was built by Richerd Longman. It had a Gordon Allen billet steel crank, with from memory a 51mm stroke running on plus 100 thou cooper s bore. Unfortunately the engine did not work well so I blueprinted the camshafts (649's) I got a perfect camshaft on the sixth one and even then had to havr the keyway remachined to ensure the cam was perfectly timed . I also had Chris Tyrell do the head for me from memory it was 11cc. I also fitted electronic ignition. To cut a long story short the car was written off on the first lap of the championships paddock at Brands. The light weight shell was absolutely amazing. I had the shell built on a chassis rig and the front bulkhead raised 100mm which in effect lowered the car 100mm lower than any other car, the floor pan was removed and replaced by a SHS platform chassis clad in 26 g aluminium The rear subframe was removed and replaced with a rose jointed beam axle. The car had a 54 ton steel roll cage in it with side intrusion bars. You could lift the back of the car up with the driver in the car. It was a stunning lightweight car and would no doubt have been unbeatable . Regards Mike"

I like that Cadwell shot as well. I don't think even the media guys can get that angle now.

Found a few more old photos that may be of interest to add to this thread below, that I took of Chris Tyrrell's Metro Challenge racer April 1981 in the paddock at Silverstone, Chris is seen here with my brother Steve Bell who was his race mechanic at the time.
Chris's 850cc Mini 7 racer in its earlier guise can also be seen on the trailer alongside his Metro.
