And when was the first factory right hand tank available ?
The first factory fitted rh tank was Aug59! S rh tankswere properly stamped out and thus BMC tanks. They were not fabricated as per Serck.

most things on a 1071 were options. The twin tanks, supplied with no vent in the rh cap. The early oil cooler (engine mounted) was bought from an accessory firm which sold them as an after market accesory. I shall have to dig out who they were. There was a close ratio helical cut box. The sump guard protected the front of the sump. not the underneath. I was told that 4 1/2" wheels were initially only supplied with R6 racing tyres. Not all Ss had laminated screens, but they did come with the buzzing gear lever.

Really ? Tell me more. Horizontal coolers also available at the time, (though I'd have to dig out exactly when) included examples from Serck and Gallay, I've got adverts for these amongst others from Speedwell and Taurus.

Yours for £5K apparently, but you do get a free Mk1 Mini project with it.

Still with drum brakes - probably the original single leading shoe type
That must have been an exciting drive
Will be interesting to see what it sells for - 1071 engines don't grow on trees now do they. Do you want to put money on the auction ending early?

This doesn't look to bad, and the price seams quite reasonable.

Thing is I probably wouldn't fit, it would have to have a bench seat fitted.

..looks kosher, but why say rain has been getting in on the back end ?!..its just a laid up car in a damp leaky place or is it ??!!. still looks kosher... others can make an art form out of laid up old wrecks.. most things are salvageable though ?! foxy52

Aye, looks one of the most kosher around ebay for a while. Remote cut out looks like it's been hacked around but the blanking plate for the pudding stirrer looks correct, dash vinyl and badge holes all there. I checked and the V5 is on the records. I'm sure people will view this weekend and a deal done off ebay!

Maybe but the boot brackets have been welded on in the wrong place and burnt off the paint. Who knows, without a chassis number and paperwork....

too be fair, it does have impeccable heritage, the fact that john whitmore owned it until 1995 suggests that it didn't spend time asleep in a dvla provided brown sleeping bag!

Good spot Pete, beginning to have doubts now. Odd that there's no picture of the right hand tank bracket on the rear seat? It certainly needs viewing.

Also interesting to see that a Lennon connection on a Ferrari can more than double the price.
