Thanks for all the posts guys .. shame I can't add the recording of the first start up :|

I'll post up a couple of pic tomorrow.

Still plenty to do .. trying to sort out the voltage regulator that is reluctant to work correctly .. following the Lucas service instructions so hopefully I'll have some success shortly. Need to put a gear lever in to check I actually have a gearbox that works :?

Doors should be painted next weekend, hinges in primer but can't fit the doors until its down on the deck and I can get it outside. Bonnet still to strip inside and then prime and paint.

The original seat belts have been restored by FDTS and I'm very happy with the results. Using the original webbing (the particular weave is no longer available) and replated and rechromed fittings , they look brilliant. I handsome very good buckles for them use. Sue was very helpful and enthusiastic .. highly recommend them for seat belt restoration.

The original grille slats returned from ACF Howell .. they look fantastic. Now need to reassemble them on the new backing plates obtained from 1071Bob :)

Plus quite a lot more ....

Just done the very same job Andrew using 1071bob,s backing plates and as you,d expect they fitted perfectly.

They are of excellent quality (as Bob only ever does). What black finish did you do them in, satin or gloss ?

I,d say more glossy that satin Andrew, think i used black Smoothrite. Painted them last year and only just got round to reassemble it as one slat was " lost " in the platers.( thankfully found )

Andrew,

How did you choose reference points to get these indicator plinths lined up?

My ‘tabs’ in the new panels from m Machine don’t line up with what’s on the heritage front panel. Very worried about having wonky indicators

Hmm yes, boss eyed indicators are not that desirable :o

I'll have a look through my pics and send what I have, will refresh my memory too ;)

Up to date pics ...

Hope to get it on its wheels in next couple of weeks once the servo is fitted and brake bled, so can then fit the painted doors outside - definitely a problem with a garage that's not wide enough.

Bonnet in 2k high build and the correct Mk1 hinges in primer.

Finally fitted the 'fresh' air fly trap and the regulator has been overhauled. Need to find a correct length outer cable for the heater tap.

Also, have to repaint the roof as I'm not happy with it at all but easier when its on its wheels !!

Looking great Andrew, excuse my ignorance but the fresh air hose, does it end there or have an extension that goes to the front panel? Not seen it end so close to the servo before (i may not have been looking properly though, or is it for a certain date car)

Yep, it ends there for a 65 S and maybe for 64 S hydro cars as well .. hence the 'fresh' comment. Pretty stupid idea from BMC if you ask me.

Off the top my head not sure when but maybe in 66 they went to the reducer hose set up.
