Andrew, is that middle bronze green or the darker bronze ? it looks darker than the usual engine green.

That’s a possibility, if he is still around. When I contacted him, his wife said he had Alzheimer’s (or something similar).Costafortune wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 6:22 pm Will you be taking it back to show the first owner? That'd be something.
Once it’s finished I will get in touch again. Would be great to get a picture of him with the car.

This and Daz's Cooper thread have been my weekly 'fix' since they started. Without them I get those withdrawal symptoms. Great work Andy

Re: My new project - 1965 Morris Cooper S - HOY 500D
Bit of a milestone today, HOY now has a number plate !!
Fitted the boot lid yesterday. I had a NOS, allegedly genuine Rover boot seal to use and some genuine clips. Just as well I only put every other clip in as the boot lid only just shut, with effort, and stuck out a mile at the top. I had the original boot seal that I had used to set it all up during the panel work. Decided to clean it up and re-use it. Fits much better with a nice bit of tension on the seal as the lock is turned.
Currently waiting for the carb and ally parts to come back from a friend who has a vapour blasting business. Need to take the radiator to the reconditioner but can't due to restrictions.
The disaster that was the plating has been addressed and should be back tomorrow. I sent them to Mark at SmiffysBits and if they are as good as the pictures show, I'll be very happy with them now.
Also waiting for the grille slats to come back from ACF Howell and the seat belts from FTDS.
Doors have had small local repairs and are in epoxy primer and hope to get some high build on them next weekend.
I've heard that the owner of the Matthewsons Surf 'sister' car has been following the thread with interest. Be great to be in contact and maybe our cars could meet up one day

Re: My new project - 1965 Morris Cooper S - HOY 500D
Love it Andrew. . So many ‘65 Ss seemed to get registered in 1966 or later. Ive had at least four over the years registered in ‘66 and one in ‘67! All single tank cars which of course is quite good for bamboozling all the ‘twin tank twitchers’ who constantly question it. . BMC production must have been in overdrive, anyone got the figures for ‘65 compared to 64 and 66?
