It is yet another car "fully restored" without much attention to detail :?
The seat pattern looks the correct black colour for a Mk2 Cooper but the trim pattern more like a Mk1 :|
Mk1 Bonnet badge too...

Was thinking of the other car... yeah the MK2 Cooper is shocking

Oooh - sorry Kevin! The grey Mk1 is a bit special isn't it. I don't recognise the door cards at all but I suppose if you're the MD of BMC you could pretty much ask for whatever you wanted :) I guess they were a one-off?

I've always quite liked that Carlton grey car. Why BMC never offered microcell recliners as an option I will never know - they fold in half and hinge forward making it possible to get in and out of the back and they are nowhere near as heavy and un-wieldy as standard factory recliners. I guess it comes down to price...

Highest bid for the Carlton Grey car was only £7150.00. Website doesn't say whether that is a sale or not.
Only about half the estimate surprisingly.

Damn - I would have had that for £7200

Me too but it is never that simple. There may have been a reserve of course but even if there wasn't, Brightwells charge a premium of 12% plus VAT which adds another £1000 or more ;)
Still doesn't sound dear though for such history.

Perhaps surprisingly, the poorly detailed red Mk2 Cooper was bid to £15,750 - which is over £18,000 once the buyers premium is added :o

If only I had the room that would have been mine!! a bargain compared to the MK2 Cooper

Looks like it was a sale. Bargain of the decade I think.

That’s a great price for someone at that! (Certainly the purchaser)

Car shouts a 65, a removed body number also?

Single tank and swivel visors indicate 65

HOY sat unsold for 18 months, hence the D plate.

The standard wheels sit right in the arches? I thought S brakes made them sit proud? Could be wrong though.

Yes, that does seem to be something he does.

The detailing in that engine bay is so 'correct' it can only be an S.

Not sure about the wheels Tim.

Wheels are certainly out a bit. Odd that it only has one S rim.
And my estimate is £21,500
PS This is not in tomorrows sale, but the July sale. Also on offer then are a couple of A35s, one is an academy car, the other is a Speedwell

Quite a few Mini’s tomorrow, liked the Estate until I saw all the pictures!!

Really do fancy one of those A35’s , however they’ve always struck me as a little expensive for what they are?
