seems reasonable considering the work ahead and where elves and hornets are likely to go in value.

I doubt it being NOS - I'm pretty sure they were painted - even when supplied as a part.
I think bare heads and blocks were always unpainted although I've also seen them with a thin sort of primer, so I could believe that is NOS. The question is though: How much work and cash have you got to throw at it before it could be any use now..... The story about it being a "works" block is just nonsense. A block would just start off as a block wouldn't it.

They were all 'works' blocks weren't they ;)

I think it could come good, but your right, a bit of effort and money to throw at it just to get to somewhere one could actually start from!

Hopefully this is unique and I'm surprised the phrase 'real head turner' hasn't been used in the blurb.

Still, it is (or was, which is why it's up for sale) someones pride and joy so that's all I'll say .....

And by the looks of it some has spent of lot of time doing it as the fit and finish is pretty good compared with some of the creations that you see. Unfortunately the smoothed custom look just does not work on a Mini Van, especially when they start fitting light units from more modern cars.

I thought the 970 S only came with dry suspension?
Wouldn't fancy having a rear impact in that of that one, fuel pumps / filter right infront of the battery on the boot edge :o

Yep, those are not a standard size for the Mini. 145/70 12 was the size used all through the 1980's and 1990's as standard fit. 165/60 12 were optional in the Cooper catalogues. Denovos were were 155/65 310.

I did buy a Maiyfair that had 155/70 12 tyres, but these were replacements and rubbed on the edges of the front wings when turning.

The trouble with spares prices being like this is you think shall I sell what ever X part I have as it frees off cash for other things, then you think what if the one I have in the car breaks in a years time and the price you have to pay to replace it has gone up by X Y or Z amount, would it actually cost you more money then you made by selling it in the long run :?
