Nick, nothing wrong with asking the going rate for original stuff totally agree. It is when stupid figures are asked you have to ask yourself what is that about.
In this age of political correctness let me courteously say my perceived view of Ebay is that it is populated by a large percent by fun merchants. I’ve no intention to insult the genuine traders but when you see such elevated prices you have to ask yourself what is that trader about?

But what is the "going rate" Seems to me that anybody can ask what they like for their product whether it sells or not is dependent on somebody believing it to be worth that amount thus changing the "going rate". If it's as described I see nothing wrong with these types of transactions as long as both party's are happy?

I believe that anyone can ask anything for what they have to offer, if the value they assign to it is greater than that of anyone else then it won't sell, if it isn't then it will.
I have less of an issue with his prices than the stupid pictures he puts on some of his listings. I just don't get the point.

There's a huge difference between "NEARLY" & having to phone someone up and asking them to bring a gallon of unleaded with them

Brightwells have some interesting motors in their next auction
http://www.brightwells.com/classic-moto ... arch-2017/
First up is this 1960? Mini. Spot the obvious mistake, but then read the description.
Mk1 Mk2.jpg
This Russet Brown number has been brought and sold a few times in the last couple of years, each time the price is a little higher.
Clubman.jpg
Ex Film and TV star, although I do remember seeing a few for real in Bromley in the 1970's
Morris Cop Car.jpg
And finally a big old Wolseley with a cheap estimate. I think the colour is Acconite, which was a shade or two lighter than the Black Tulip it replaced..

There is not much Mk1 left on the mini. Looks to be the original powertrain, number plates and chassis number only, the rest being new.
Question is will this be viewed as better or worse than the factory rally cars? In my view it is the same deal, tired out chassis etc. built into a new car keeping the old identity
The description copy writer does really need to go and learn something about cars. The speedo shows 5,140.0 miles not the 51,400 mentioned in the write up.
I do like the 'recognise your road signs' sticker on the passenger side windscreen.
The Wolseley is Aconite.

In the Brightwells auction there is this delight.
https://assets.brightwells.com/image/lo ... .jpg?w=630
I think my eyes are deceiving me.
It is Italian, therefore it is going to be a bit quirky in places but I think I can see the accelerator and brake on the right hand side of the 'car'
https://assets.brightwells.com/image/lo ... .jpg?w=630
While the steering wheel and speedo are clearly on the left.
https://assets.brightwells.com/image/lo ... .jpg?w=630
Granted the distance is not great but I think it would make for interesting 'motoring' if you had a passenger.....
