, so it maybe that your Austin Metro MK1 1982 1.3L has perhaps had an earlier engine unit fitted from a Mini at some point in its past.
Do you think there will be an engine stamp on it that would tell me more?
Do you think there is a way that I can contact all previous owners of my car somehow?
Thanks
if your engine number is still fitted in place, it will be on the riveted silver plate as seen in attached photo, on the cylinder block below the right hand spark plug and just above the alternator. Some later engines have it stamped/engraved in the engine block casting in the same place.
Unfortunately the DVLA will no longer give out information on previous car owners due to the recent 'Data protection' laws.

Throw that awful waxstat jet away and buy a conversion jet from Burlen Services that will mate up with your original choke link.
Give them the number on the tag secured to one of the three float chamber screws to get a new needle.Job done. (hopefully)

I have taken the carb to bits. As seen in this photo is the pipe out of the petrol bowl

Inside the carb its self you can see where the fuel come out from the photo. I have blown though the pipe and it is very easy to do that; implying that it is clean

I found my number plate on the engine and it is same place as your photo "12H907AA 136302"

Quick google of your engine number, this came up
See here
https://www.minimania.com/Engine___Metr ... ation_data
99H907AA
99 - 998cc
H - Transverse
907 - Yd + Bf + Hm + Sk
Yd - Mechanical fuel pump
Bf - Alternator with negative earth
Hm - LC8 variant - A+ Metro engine
Sk - Standard gearbox ratios with 3.44 final drive, inboard CV joints, rod change
AA - Carburetter crankcase ventilation and intake air temperature contro
101 - Engine serial number
Not sure how this will help you though, what is your plan of action next ?

12H907AA 136302
12H = 1275cc Transverse
907 = Yd + Bf + Hm + Sk
Yd = Mechanical fuel pump,
Bf = Alternator with negative earth,
Hm = LC8 design variant (probably means the 'Low Compression' A+ derivative of the A-series engine - as in '&' denotes a Mini engine)
Sk = Standard ratio gearbox with 3.44 Final Drive, inboard CV joints and rod change
AA = Carburetter crankcase ventilation and intake air temperature control
The 'Hm' appears to indicate a 'Low compression' A+ derivative of the A-series engine and 'denotes a Mini engine' ?
Which might confirm that this 1982 Metro left the factory with a pre-verto clutch and HS2 SU carburettor Mini spec engine? Although the 1275GT Mini ended production in 1980 and was not low compression....
ie. the Mini spec engine is probably not due to a later engine swap.

I'm now putting the carb back together now. But struggleing with the pipe that goes back inside of the carb bowl; as the tube and rubber seal wont all fit in together! Tried it bough ways with seal on tube and the seal wont go inside and with the seal off of the tube inside the bowl (as seen in the photo) but the pipe wont squeeze in

Though it would be easier removing the pipe from the other end, so i have undone the thread for the jet but it wont come out!

Please get someone to check the fit of your pipe into the float chamber.If it's incorrect you will have a bad fuel leak.Beware!

at 7.30mins he removes the (46) jet bearing. I can remove mine t is stuck
However I have managed ro remove (45) the jet assembaly
My (46) jet bearing is a whole the size of about 1/4" you can clearly see down and is clear!
My (45) jet assemblay I have not dismantled but I have sprayed easy start down it and it would appear to be OK!
But there is still the brass threaded bush that I can not remove (please see photo)
At 11.30 he refit the fuel back on to the bowl but it is difficult to see what he is doing.
Note that I have tried this and can get the pipe and the rubber to fit in together!
The pipe has snapped off of the other end now, think I will have to pack it all up now and scrap the car!

You need to get an AUE 1111 HS Waxstat Conversion Jet from Burlen Fuel Systems.This can be used with your original choke link. If you use the
original needle for now that will prove a point if this was the problem in the first place.I'm sure there is someone on the forum near to you who
would give you a hand.Don't scrap the car for the sake of one part.Go on line or ring Burlen,you will find them very helpful. If no joy i've got a
selection of used carbs and would be happy to send you one.
