I'm after anything on Dreadnought Garage Ltd, Brighton. Which was the Austin dealership my mini came from.
Sent my fiver to the DVLA last week for the change of ownership records, so hoping to start tracing some of the cars history if i can.
Thanks
Jamie

Not sure, I have 'Kencars' depot at canal garage, Hatfield Rd ? Other dealers in Doncaster were Bailey & Law (Highfield Rd) Claybourne & Co. (Hall Gate) , Edwards Motors (Station Rd) , Golf Links Garage (Bawtry Rd) and E.W Jackson & Son (French Gate).
I'm writing a piece on Doncaster man and Team Red Rose / BRT racing driver Nev Hodkin so am still looking for a shot of Kennings (where he worked).
Here's a nice shot of Kennings in York :
..and apparently this is Bridlington (formerly Paragon Motor Co ?) :

Jacksons was the garage opposite Frenchgate Centre , bottom of the north bridge where Tesco are now, Nice photo of the York Kenninigs, The Bridlington one is same type of buillding that was in Rotherham on Canklow Road, Kennings must have had a building program going on in the late 60s ,Pete york road got redeveloped years ago, Though there is a Ford car dealer still there , We used to go to the greyhound Stadium to watch hot rod racing in the 60s/70s that was just of York road

I used to drive passed that quite regularly in the 1980s when driving into London, at that time is was a World of Leather type store. I also remember visiting it when my dad was looking for a new car in the early 1970s to replace his Hillman Imp.
The building was on what is known as the Clifton Roundabout, which is on the South Circular (A205) where the A20 crosses it's path. If you have a look at the historical imagery on Google Earth it looks like the building was demolished in 2009 and a new building erected with a similar rounded façade.

Hi,
I just joined this forum and found this fascinating thread. I live in Montreal, Canada and I've got a Mk. 1 1959-built Morris Mini that was originally sold by Haslemere Motors, of Guildford. Does anyone have any pictures or know anything about the place? It may have been a fairly big dealer in the 50's and 60's. By coincidence, a friend of mine has a Morris Minor that also came from there.
Also, does anyone have any pictures of any of the old garages in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, particularly Nielsen's Garage, the Austin dealer? My parents were from Kirkcaldy and I can remember going to Nielsen's with my Dad when we were over on holiday. The parts supply over here was so erratic in the late 70's he used to stock up on bits for our Austin 1300 (America) and 1800 whenever we went back to visit.
Cheers!
Ian

This is a picture that Fred of Nippy Cars gave me when I picked up my 970S from him after he restored it.
He thinks its a local garage in Bridgewater, now a Ford dealership. He cant recall the name.
I reckon the picture must be '63 or early '64 given the front valance on the S.
Easy to forget how high new Minis rode until their cones settled.

I'd be interested to see any old shots of the GTM garage at 20 Buxton Road, Hazel Grove if anyone has any.
Spotted this on Ebay...

Hi all, I drove though Clifton's Roundabout today and it's with a heavy heart that I can confirm the Building is gone and been replaced by one of those Big Yellow storage units, just horrible.
Regarding Haselmere motors, I think they were part of the Wadhams group. Ian keep your eyes out for a dealership key ring from there, they,re very nice, I,ll try and get a picture for you, cheers Tim

Hello Tim, thanks for the comment about the Haslemere Motors keyring. I live in Canada so I'm very unlikely to ever find one, but if you ever do, I'd be happy to pay a reasonable price for it if you could buy it for me. (Same goes for any other memorabilia from the garage.)

The picture Bryan posted was of Meakers of Bridgwater, Vearncombes that Pete mentioned was in the same town but about a mile away.
Meakers did seem to be quite important as they asked BMC for a loan of LBL6D after the monte win and a lorry was sent soon after to collect it from Abingdon,
i'll dig the picture out soon,
