Re: 1972 Mini pick up
So sorry to see the fire damage Dave.
The pick up looked fantastic.
I'm glad no one was injured and hope the various insurances come good.
All the best,
Andy.

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
Insurance companies will try any loophole to get out of paying .. as was often said at the very large insurer I worked for in Norfolk 'We aren't a charity'
Keep up the good fight Dave and certainly be very wary of the written word on social media.

hi mate
you have not got rid of the shell i hope as they can be saved with a bit of effort as long as there is no significent buckling inthe pic it looks fairly good
apparently you need to treat it quickly so it does not rust so i am told worth checking
cheers roger

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
The shell is CAT A scrap only,
the fire was so big it’s melted mini gearbox cases..there were 5 pumps in attendance!
it would be very unwise to try to rebuild..
Anyway there taking my garage completely down next week so that will be the end of minis for the foreseeable future at the moment I can’t see how I can rebuild anything again..

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
Dave , look to the future for example all the things that you probably cursed about your past Garage well why not rebuilt the new garage to your own design because its a fact that you will restart on your projects as & when things get sorted.. Keep the Faith.
i have learned from your horrible experience & though about Fire Risk & checked my garage extinguishers .. they show to be gauge on green but i will get them serviced![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
Your right Norman there are (were) 2 fire extinguishers in my garage both less than a year old. you need to check your house/ contents insurance we are well covered in this case but had the house been a total loss things would have been different, we will see how well they pay out!Polarsilver wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 3:04 pm Dave , look to the future for example all the things that you probably cursed about your past Garage well why not rebuilt the new garage to your own design because its a fact that you will restart on your projects as & when things get sorted.. we had new insulation in our kitchen roof 400mm thick that held the fire back from destroying the new kitchen..however the new kitchen that we were sat drinking coffee in a few weeks ago has to come completely out

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
The insurance paid out in full today, it took a lot of talking to a unbelievable amount of call centres a truly painful experience..

As much as nightmare as it’s been, Atleast you got the full amount. A small consolation for the effort and loss!

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
One less thing to worry about, I suppose, having it all sorted out financially, but that's not the main thing.
Are you out the house? Any idea when you'll get back in? or are you living around the builders?
I imagine neighbourly relations are rather awkward?

Neighbourly relations
he’s ran away, never been round to lie or apologise.. he’s a so called professional so I’m about to though in a professional complaint to he’s employer they have a duty to investigate the situation..long story..
Our home is just about habitable lucky it’s summer with a big whole in the kitchen roof still!! Outside is ground zero..
House insurance are being tricky to all 3 houses damaged, ours are refusing to pay for anything car related so that’s heading for the ombudsman..
We’ve just been handed over to mayor loss and have a meeting on Thursday so hopefully they will move forward we should be moving out and hopefully back before Christmas![🙄](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f644.svg)

Re: 1972 Mini pick up
Urgh, how shitty. just having gone through the fire was bad enough without feeling you are having to fight every step of the way afterwards.
Insurers - I know they are doing their job to work out who's liability and cover is appropriate, but it must be very frustrating.
Hope you are keeping your spirits up in spite of it all.
