The cars are honest, its the people writing the fairy tales that are using a large dose of poetic license when talking/writing of them.

Is it not time for the DVLA and Police to call time on this fraud?

You would think so wouldn’t you, think one of the issues is a car is a collection of parts, which wear and break and get replaced over its life. Can you imagine the court case, the defence could argue that parts were just replaced in line with other cars and offer lots of comparisons…..far from clear cut.
I am suprised the obvious number plate “Recreations” sell for so much, similar or the same as the genuine cars

I disagree the prosecution only need to establish the following facts;
When did the applicant of the Registration V5 for DJB actually purchase the complete vehicle and from what address and from whom ?
If no continuity of ownership can be found (which it can't), then the box of assembled car parts you claim to be an Ex works Rally car will be registered as a Q reg vehicle as per the Law,

Had a good look around it at FOS as it was in the rally paddock but didn’t turn a wheel. I’m really not sure what you’d use it for now other than a talking point. It’s very clean, completely back to a 60’s spec (didn’t notice the cage thinking about it which was there last time I saw it in 2010 ish).
The ‘weathered’ repro stickers with RAC numbers on I just don’t get.
Value wise be a hard one, it’s still an S with an interesting life so I suppose £60k ish ?

I’d say that’s about right for a really good works rep, but it’ll be twice that money or more and is being advertised yet again as the ex RAC Rally winning works Mini. It’s all been said on here before (and deleted!!) but if the next owner is daft enough not to check it out before buying it (ie it didn’t even exist before 1988 when the logbook was applied for) then more fool them. It’s got to a point now where the fake is seemingly worshipped alongside the genuine and anyone who talks openly about these much drooled over and valued cars created fraudulently from nothing but a photograph are now described as trolls or red and white Mini haters in a certain club magazine. How utterly ridiculous. Talk about the tail wagging the dog!

The current replica is mentioned in the latest MCR mag as “condemned” by various people who’ve pointed out its got no connection to the original (so shouldn’t have been issued the number plate then!) but actually that’s total rubbish. I’ve never heard or read anywhere of the car being “condemned” by anyone ,that’s net accurate at all. On the contrary people who’ve raised the subject like me have always said what a great works replica it is, as opposed to “Rauno’s RAC winner” as it’s been described in the MCR mag previously, which it absolutely isn’t.
Everybody loves a nice works replica, nobody loves disingenuous descriptions, all that does is devalue the genuine!
Without raking over all of this yet again - Pete has it right. It is what it is...

Honestly ................
I would be very happy to see a DVLA & Police Investigation into this car and others, I personally and my witness would 100% swear and confirm in a statement or court what we know to be true.
As far as the MCR goes, they have been accomplices to a lot of this by authenticating cars which people who ran the club applied for the V5's.

Here is the advertisement, clearly misrepresenting this car. The only genuine thing on this car is the registration letters and numbers.

What is difficult to understand ? This car is a Fraud, built to fool someone into believing its the real car and pay a lot of money for it.
If it was a work of Art discovered to be Fraud/Copy the Police would be all over it.

OH FOR F(*&S SAKE!
Here we go again!
Larrysimon, whilst your observations about DJB are generally correct, you are just re hashing old info. EVERYONE who gives a TOSS knows that DJB 93B is a replica / recreation of the original car. It is very well documented, even before the work was carried out for Phil Short in the 1990's!
Simply coming on here every few months to kick up the same hornets nest does no good & makes you look a bit obsessive.
As I have said before. This section of the forum is primarily for the discussion of the IN PERIOD history of these cars. NOT what has happened to them subsequently. Mainly because if we weren't allowed to talk about any cars that had dubious history, we would have practically NOTHING LEFT to talk about.
I will leave the recent comments up for a few days & then, as before trim the section to reflect it's original purpose.
If you still wish to continue your one man crusade about this car, can I suggest you contact the vendor, as spouting off here does no one any good whatsoever.

Mark F,
There is no need for profanity or accusations about my motives or thoughts regarding this car or any other Ringed Ex Works car.
I also think your Censoring of this subject discussion of Ex Works Ringers is totally wrong and you are preventing free speech and expression of opinion!
Speaking for myself and others who have commented with similar genuine concerns in the past to have our opinions so heavily censored and deleted from record by yourself is not fair. Any one who disagrees with my opinion has the right to challenge it.
My feelings are you are suppressing the truth by censoring and deleting posts and I don't know why you would do that ?

If you truly believe what you say, why dont you peg your colours to mast and write to the Police or DVLA ?
This is a friendly, welcoming forum, not speakers corner for the bitter with an axe to grind......
Please, if you are not going to contribute in a friendly, positive way, go else where to vent your spline...and stop cluttering up the forum with this EDIT nonsense....

Yes I think I will contact the Police and DVLA Fraud unit with the information I have about Ringed Ex works cars.
The Only one being confrontational is yourself with your Passive Aggressive comments, I wonder what some people have to hide?

In your opinion its not the best place,
In my opinion a Forum section about individual ex Works Mini's history is Exactly the right place to have this discussion. If the people who know the history of a car and say nothing about it being a Ringer or delete posts and hide the discussion or truth are guilty of being Accomplices in my book.
