We discussed this before and it's lack of provenance (which for that money it should have!). To my mind if a Mk3 S in mint condition is worth knocking on £45K then an equally mint Mk3 1000 should be £25K, cos there's not THAT much difference, and they're just not!
Then again, who'd have thought that white/black 1966 1275 S ding dong bell would have fetched the same sort of money recently at auction, and it did! I've met a few people who've paid really good money for cars like that who's subsequently found out were cut up into pieces many years ago and contain barely one original component from the original car and they're happy as Larry, so there's not a whole lot of point trying to rationalise any of it.
Fun trying though!
Oh yes. THAT Mk3S. The one created by John Cooper and the team at Special Tuning

Some period photos and 1960's cine film have now been added to the ad:-
UPDATE:......"I have come across some brief cine film of the car in the 60's that I thought might be of interest - only a few seconds in a holiday film - I paused it and I have taken a couple of stills from it and added this to flickr here hope this works (that's my sister in the boot!)"

They HAVE had a grand surprise if they set the reserve at £120
A good start to their year
Let's hope whoever buys it can restore it and take it back to show them the finished article.

Nice project for sure...after reading the description again I think the doors were replaced with later ones.....hence the safety boss...maybe the front end too as I think it has the cutaways under the bumper.....
Heck of a find!

The lowball estimate is the current trend with auction houses I think to get interest going. I think I saw that car for sale elsewhere for mega bucks?

that's a clubman estate with bits welded (terribly) over the window holes
it looks good at first glance, then zoom into the pictures!

"Fresh professional restoration & conversion using the upper steel side panels from a mini van"
maybe they lost their welding mask and had to close their eyes!
