Could that perhaps be a 66'ish car...or perhaps later handles fitted (?)

TBF the market is pushing these high prices on Mini parts.
The sellers are just taking advantage of it, just like the crazy price displacers or scrap 'original' parts.

Seems a little optimistic. I just got a NOS 2 speed DR3A for £100 and that was more than I wanted to pay.
Unrelated, but something I've noticed a lot recently is cars for sale making a point of 'only three previous owners' etc. The V5c only shows the owners since things got computerised in the late 70s, the old, old style of V5 used to say something along the lines of '1 previous keeper since 78'.

The lack of manufacture date and evidence of tape across the body probably suggests this is a Lucas B90 re-manufactured exchange unit, but I'm far from an expert. As for Lucas part numbers, I wouldn't even know where to begin!

Also a Sprint from the same seller

Makes their Series 1 Landy look cheap at £27k
If only I were richer and younger

It reminds me of a site we were did some geotech work at in Polzeath. The seller had spent 900k on a ratty old bungalow to turn into a 2.3m pad (this was building cost, not final value). furthermore, this was to be "one of" his holiday homes. The point being that to some people, money is just numbers.
If money was just numbers to me, I'd buy that sprint in a flash. It's a very nice car and really, for the sort of people who would just decide to have one of those to add to their portfolio, it's not bad from a price point....
Oddly enough, one of the other clients was the chap behind online banking security widgets. He had a thing for £1/3m bentley racing cars. Lovely bloke as well.

That minisprint is one of the best ones I've seen . To me it looks just right with the seams still attached . I'm 80% of the way through my mk3 S restoration so I'm interested to see if that mk3 S ever sells for that money . It was offered to a well known classic car dealer that my mate works for . I don't know if it has changed hands since but know it was turned down on general condition and price , although mechanically it's suppose to drive very well .... Ken

We discussed this before and it's lack of provenance (which for that money it should have!). To my mind if a Mk3 S in mint condition is worth knocking on £45K then an equally mint Mk3 1000 should be £25K, cos there's not THAT much difference, and they're just not!
Then again, who'd have thought that white/black 1966 1275 S ding dong bell would have fetched the same sort of money recently at auction, and it did! I've met a few people who've paid really good money for cars like that who's subsequently found out were cut up into pieces many years ago and contain barely one original component from the original car and they're happy as Larry, so there's not a whole lot of point trying to rationalise any of it.
Fun trying though!
