on closer inspection it is electric perhaps a siren

It really looks right doesn't it? Very cleverly done and I can understand the other positive comments.
The only surprise is that they kept with the original (??) 848cc engine. It would be wrong to change it now but I'm surprised that they didn't go for something bigger when the truck was built, which I assume wasn't 1961. As my mum would say, it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding!

I doubt it was ever used in anger, so the engine size wont really matter

The Americans have always been good at custom work. I agree with Rich probably more a running advert. A nice one at that.

You're right, I made the comment about the engine size but as you say it was probably built for publicity purposes rather than a serious work horse. A bit like the Outspan orange Mini. Eye catching but never intended for a quick trip down the M1!

Converted my Mk2 to dry back in '86 before I knew better but changed back to Hydro about 15 years ago.
The displacer body was a bit rusty but has blasted up well and all the rubber bits seem in excellent order - worth a punt at that price.
No prizes for guessing where it came from
