'GEM911G' also has no export marker against it, so I suppose you could always buy the shell and apply for it....

Those damaged body panels were priced at £7500 last week! Bit of a reduction now but originally they were sold on Ebay a few months ago for about £1200, probably what they're worth for someone who wants them to keep in case they smash their car up or as repair sections for a project.. can't see another use for them. To try and build a car from those would be a huge and expensive job and stilll only be a replica with no Unipower chassis number. The original car 'GEM 911G' was a little beauty in 'Midnight Blue' and black and I spoke to the first owner recently about the car. He ordered it with a 998 Cooper engine and it was delivered to Merseyside after it's appearance at a car show in Manchester in 1968, with the engine on a pallet. Anyway, it fell into disrepair (after a shunt by the looks of it as the rear clam's buggered) and Gerry Hulford built a new car using the chassis and parts for a Japanese customer who wanted a race car lookalike in yellow, with big arches etc. That car was exported a few years ago as you've spotted Rich.

It looks like old Mk1 Mini Coopers used to look in the 1970s. Hardly anything left of the original car and simply kept going by "updating" with anything you could find in the local scrapyard - happy days

Those seat mountings are really something aren't they

And although it does have the boot board mounting brackets, they look as if they were fitted more recently don't they.

That's obviously not happening!

Talking of overpriced, somebody really does need their head feeling if an early Mk1 disguised as a flatpack "1966 Cooper S" is worth close on £50K.

http://www.historics.co.uk/buying/aucti ... s.aspx?p=7

You could build that for about half that price, that makes the S logbook they used to build it with about £25Ks worth!
