and also any of HA Saunders/Mann Egerton at Whetstone/North Finchley N12. I spent many a weeks hard earned cash in that establishment. I was always served by Nick who was a wonderful patient parts man - and I recall where Keith Dodd (of Mini Spares fame) cut his teeth before going out on his own at a premises on the North Circular.
I would love to see pictures of HA Saunders / Mann Egerton at Hitchin (now split into ASDA and CarpetRight.) I spent many an hour ate the parts counter there in the '60's.

And on the opposite side of the road in Hitchin stood the similarly named Sanders which was, I think, a Triumph agent.

On the subject of Downton, I recall visiting the farm nearby where so much stuff ended up, including signage. I got my H4s from there and a manifold, and the owner was a former employee. Did anyone else on here visit that place? They had a couple of Citroen's being prepped when I last visited in the 90s.

Penta Garage Basingstoke Road Reading - think its started as a High Tec Rootes garage then moved to BMC, British Leyland..... Now a Morrisons on the site. This photo looks as if it may of still been more Rootes, unfortunately. Cant find other photos though....

Nice AEC Matador artillery tractor converted to recovery lorry too. It doesn't look too aerodynamic to me.........

Minus the observatory above, I use the road regularly. The view overlooking Rudyard lake you can never get bored of :D

Price per gallon. Also looks like some people have traded in their junk BL stuff for a nice new fangled Japanese car

Priests of Chesham in the mid 70s, originally BMC then Leyland, where I was well known to the Parts Dept and spent all my hard earned to support my Cooper. As in the photo, they supplied the local St. Christopher Driving School (still going today) who managed to get me through my test first time…….not sure how.
When Leyland folded they swapped to Ford and are still there today. Needless to say, having never been a Ford fan, I don’t visit any more!

Actually, looking at the registrations, this must have been 1981 rather than mid 70s …. oops 🫢

Good to see a picture of Priests of Chesham.

I too used to be a customer prior to emigrating. I also passed my driving test with St Christopher driving school in a Mini Metro!
