Paul recently acquired this scrutineers badge and certificate from the 66 flowers....a nice historic addition to his car. Thanks to John Mackintosh, the owner of LBL 590E (the 67 Paddy and Ron flowers entry ) for finding this and informing Paul.

Normally, for most major rallies, the "Rally Badge" was given free to all competitors with year bars separately awarded.
The RAC Rally had blue bars for finishers, white bars for non-finishers and red bars for officials and service crew.
The tight fisted 1000 Lakes gave you a bar but infamously invited you to buy the badge itself!

I never did get my 1970 red bar as service crew...

Did all the Works cars retain the fiberglass under bonnet insulation?

I think the links all died in the great 'shooting itself in the foot in the name of commercial gain' of Photobucket a few years back.

Just been sent this pic which I can’t remember seeing before. It’s the original GRX 309D..( Paul’s car ) on the 1966 Acropolis recce……..to the best of my knowledge. Any more info would be appreciated 👍

I wonder if it’s a screen grab from Paul Easter’s recce video? Look how rough the terrain is!

Talking of 'works car found' A clearly very wealthy 'someone' with a silver R reg Marcos approached me today at the Millets Farm classic car show (near Abingdon) and that he had a 'works' Cooper S. But that while it was a works car, it was one that was duplicated by the works, number plate and presumably chassis number switched over and.......... By this time my eyes started to roll and eventually close...... you know the sort of thing. He saw my police LUCAS hand lamp and said that his 'remains' had the spot lamp hole in the roof

Does this sort of thing ring true? Are there really any missing or unaccounted for cars out there after all this time.
