So maybe not quite the potential from benefiting from inflated auction prices then, but still WHY do they allow 'private auctions' when you cant tell who is bidding anyway (unless you know their feedback tally or something else to identify).

Like the late 1966 or 1967 bodyshell :? Matching numbers!!

The thing that really gets my splenetic juices flowing is the illiterate dealer hyperbole but especially "Concourse restoration" Kings Cross Station has recently had a concourse restoration; and the concourse looks very good now :) Does this 970 S have an open space or hall where crowds gather? I'm think not.

The St Andrew selling this 970 should suffer like his namesake, three days being crucified - I'd follow that with hanging and drawing for doing no real research of his own just copying and pasting the 970 summary from the MCR website - harsh but fair.

I think the engine bay 'detailing' deserves the final part to your punishment programme Simon........quartering

As Richard says, that is shockingly poor in the detail, even for half the asking price.

Not one to start picking holes, but what the f###k is going on in the boot area? 64???
I find that amount of incorrect detailing slightly insulting..especially for £60k. Not quite sure as to what market the vendor is trying to appeal to really.

Could we have list of the faults and what they should be for those of us that aren't so knowledgeable?

Every days a school day etc :-)

Boot lid should have an open frame inside, not later enclosed type. Rubber seal should be attached to the lid with clips, not glued to car. Has a post 1976 fuel tank and strap. Boot floor mounts should be body colour. Then there are the sills etc. etc... I'll let someone else make up the full list.

In the boot, the brackets are not painted body colour. The boot seal is attached to the body, should be on the lid.
The tank is a 7.5 gallon unit, should be 5.5 gallon. This makes the tank strap in the wrong place.
In the cabin there is no vinyl over the heater vents. The heater vent trims are chromed not black.
After market dash to include tacho, means the firewall trim panels are the wrong shape and the dash clamps them in place.
The heater has poor refinishing (not crackle) on the ears and no marking on the front panel. There is no knob on the heater flap control.
The oil pressure and temperature gauges are from a MK2 (rounded bezels).
The gear lever boot is clamping the carpet, it should be over the top of the carpet.
It has the wrong door seals (mk3 and later type).
Washer pump bracket is body colour nor black.
The door seal clamps to the sills are stainless replicas, not aluminum polka dot.
Chrome handbrake should be black.
Indicator stalk is on the wrong side, it should point to the drivers door, not the passengers.
Not too sure about these but I thought the 1964 minis all had the string door pulls. Not sure bout the steering column brackets but I thought they should be black not chrome.
Interior light switches should be push in, not screwed in
Looks like the 'factory recliners' are later seats masquerading as earlier ones looking at the reclining handle. It should be a chrome lever same as the MGB, not a black plastic ended steel one.
Horrid chrome horn visible through the grille.
Behind the grille should be black not body colour
Grille buttons....
Clear indicator lenses at the front, should be orange.
Twin jet chrome washer jets.
6 vent sills, should be 4 vent.
I was going to forgive the very late subframe at the rear however...
Exhaust held on with the wrong clamps.
The rear windows do not fit flush, probably the wrong seals.
The front floor pans are wrongly shaped, look like the cheapest of replacement panels.
The fuel pipe from the rear has a compression joint in it under the floor and is not in the right place.
Horrid cheap LCB with even cheaper clamps.
Battery cable and rear brake line fitted the wrong side of the subframe, should be between the frame and heal board.
In the engine bay.... Fresh air inlet hose looks to be a boat item complete with boat 'fitting' into the firewall.
Rocker cover is chrome should be green, it has a CCV rocker cover and a PCV rear tappet cover and hence a big mess of pipes and horrid filters.
The control box is in the wrong place.
Wrong coil.
Washer bottle is the wrong one and mounted in the wrong place.
Bonnet latch should be body colour.
Dipstick should be green.
It looks like it is 'idling' at 2500 rpm if the tacho is to be believed...
For 60 large I would want the doors to fit and the bonnet to follow the same profile as the wings as well.

I have most likely missed loads but that is what I see just looking at the pictures
All these things individually would not be so troublesome if the price was commensurate, however the seller is asking absolute top money for a shiny daily driver at best.

And that's just for starters

Rear boot board brackets probably in wrong place, hence why the nearside one isn't actually doing anything !
Solenoid bracket is standard 850 one - solenoid should point to 12 o'clock. Remember the solenoid spotters from the old MCR Forum ?
To me the sills look like wrap round jobbies, so who knows what the inner sills and floors are like.
Bonnet badges in wrong position (too low AND to one side !)
Wrong headlights
Broken bootlid strap
Gear lever gaiter screwed on top of the carpet
Wrong radiator
Servo incorrectly positioned and one way valve looks to be missing
Bulkhead sound proofing missing
Radiator shroud seal missing

Does have the door cards the right way up and the correct ashtray though.

As Simon (Smithy) says, most could be put right fairly easily (apart from perhaps the sills and other body issues) but that's way, way overpriced.

As Simon pointed out its biggest problem is it a late 66 or 67 shell going by the front bulkhead!

Wow....quite a collection!

All recently imported from Macau (China) and apparently discovered by the seller during a BBC Top Gear Live Tour of Asia in 2009.
7 years later he owns them all and they are stored in Hertfordshire.
He says: "They are all in amazing condition. Extremely solid. I added fuel to one and after 20 years of sitting quietly the engine fired up! I'm going to sell a few as they are right now and repaint some others and keep a couple for myself. Let me know if you want to come and look. They have caused quite a stir in my village."
