Anyone know this car?
Was mentioned a couple of weeks ago, for sale at auction. Obviously didn't meet its 50k estimate.

I would doubt it too.

I wonder how it just got an MOT, the RH side CV boot is split and leaking....

Also appears to have the big tank and mounting brackets in the boot.

Plus the missing trim on the screen vents.

You would think people would take a bit more care if they reallly want top money.

Not surprised, seeing the cover sills would instantly put me off paying good money.

This just popped up in Oz.

Reputedly built and raced/rallied in the UK.

Anyone know anything about it?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191952817006 ... EBIDX%3AIT

It is not particularly well done as far as I can see, the kicker for me being the sticky tape 'heated screen'.

Mind you it does have vinyl over the screen vents.

Got to admit , I can't really understand why someone would pay that for a old tank when the minispares ones are just over £300 with a bit of discount . .... Ken

If it's a genuine S and the shell can be saved, then it will still be genuine S, surely :?

OK, its rough but is it beyond redemption ??

Or do you know something we don't Rich ?
I know nothing

any scruffy black mk1, be it a genuine cooper s, or a 850 has the opportunity to be turned into a priceless er' cooper s replica

the body work on this example looks perfect for it!

I'm sure someone will spoil it by actually doing it up properly - boooooo
This ebay listing seems to have been ended due to error?.
Sent my brother to view it today as he lives locally and has restored many early Mini's in recent years.

His report back said:-
"It has the cam covers on the back of the engine, engine number and chassis numbers match the log book, has remote and chrome trim on doors, as it is so low to the ground I guess Hydrolastic has deflated, has oil cooler and servo, twin sus and 120 speedo. Also 11 stud head. Boot wont open so dont know about boot board brackets. Floor was non existent to check for magic wand aperture and plate. Not a V5 but the older type post green log book and it only states Mini Cooper as the green log book has the s missing or unreadable and the details have been transfered from it incorrectly.
The shell is toast, I have no idea how it will be recovered it will just break in half. Buried up to the wheel centres in mud. Floor has completely gone, all other panels need replacing shell is probably not salvageable and I reckon all the subframes and running gear is scrap as well even the interior has had it.
He only put it on ebay as he sold another car on the farm to someone who spotted it and offered him £5K which made him wonder what it was really worth. A phone caller has offered him £10K but has not seen it. He might change his mind........
The only future this car has is rebuild the engine into another Mk1 shell. Everything else will have to be bought again."

That's one of my ones Michael, sold it to him for £100-£110 I think. And I thought I did ok. He will need luck on his side to get that price.
