What is that little red and white step-thru moped thinggy, just visible between the red mini and the citrus estate. I think I now where one of them is...... Is that an old M20 Triumph too?

That was a lot of money for a 997/998 Cooper in 1981. Most were sub £500 and plenty of ropey ones for £250.

But John Cooper leant on it so that adds a premium.

Not seen this one before. Looks like a different, earlier location than Ewell Rd?

Charles Cooper “leased garage property in a builders yard next to The Wagon and Horses” pub on Surbiton Hill Rd.

Update courtesy of the Surbiton Remembered FB group:
In the book "Cooper Cars" by Doug Nye. It had this photo in, which I think is the same building shown at the back of your photo. The caption reads "The 500 Club at Hollyfield Road 13 December 1947, when their AGM was held at the Surbiton Assembly Rooms. Charles Cooper on the right whose dealer franchises are sign-written on the workshop gable." This whole site at 243 Hollyfield Road, where they relocated to in 1934 was rebuilt in 1954 to become the later Cooper factory, and is pretty much as it remains. The two racing cars shown in this photo would date it to around 1952/3, just before rebuilding.
