Re: Pictures to make us smile.
I have to agree. I bought a facelift R50 Cooper earlier this year and it's a hoot to drive. Already had a few small niggles that I've had to sort, for instance the window mechanism went in the passenger side door and was an afternoon's job. New mech came from the scrappy for 30 euros, and I hate to think what it would have cost to have it done by a garage. Half a day's labour from a professional would have been quite a bill. The relay for the cooling fan also got stuck open and drained the battery. New set of relays and it was right as rain, it does need a new cooling fan as the low-speed resistor has blown (as they all do), but that's a bit more serious as the whole front end has to come apart to swap it...mab01uk wrote: ↑Mon Sep 12, 2022 8:53 pm
I agree but not sadly! They still look good and timeless compared to other contemporary small hatchbacks from the same era, OBL on a Y Reg are very early R50 press cars and now sought after. Get one while you still can, early R50 MINI's and the R53 'S' are disappearing fast from the roads not due to rust but uneconomic minor accident damage or garage repair costs for what are often only minor DIY home mechanic faults to sort out.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

It's Blakey from On the Buses. He got a job as a traffic warden after the program was cancelled.
PS There was a Glam Rock at the BBC show on over the weekend that had a Top of the Pops appearance of Sparks doing This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us.

A video from 1972 as opposed to a photo. Lots of Minis, 1100's, A60's and a Marina 1.8TC Coupe.
