I don't think anyone can deny that prices are seriously on the slide now!

I think the MK3 S above isn't in it's original shell so that would have hurt it (for some)

I suspect the colour change on the 970 would make a difference too ;)

Should be hydro too if have thought.

However, prices are lower for sure

Definitely on the slide which will no doubt be compounded when investors panic and start to off load.

Good news, in my opinion, for us enthusiasts.

I totally agree.

This is VERY bad news for anyone who overpaid for their "rock solid, copper bottom, guaranteed to make 30% a year, snake oil salesman, Cooper S"

Excellent news for those folks who want to drive their Minis like they did when they were kids!

Prices have certainly levelled at least but high quality cars always fetch a premium , and non were at Stoneleigh! . The quality of those cars had to be seen to form an accurate picture. I thought the racers sold quite well considering the age of build and spec, critical details . The 970 was a tidy enough flat pack in the wrong colour and late Mk1 shell. Not sure about the engine. And Silverstone Auction’s commission adds a fair chunk to the hammer price of course!

We saw the Mk3 'S' go through at Bonhams last year .. nice mini, but it was a Mk4/5 shell, wrong subframe, tunnel, etc etc so it was really just a nice mini, no Mk3 's' about it really

Would be nice to see a genuine nice car sold at auction to get a real feel for the market, JD going BANG and the uncertainty of Brexit has for sure brought all Classic cars back but the Cooper S does apper to be more stable then other classics. A reasonable price is better for everyone this boom/bust cycle with economies, classic cars etc is frustrating for everyone. As said above if the cars were bought for the right reasons those people will be ok no matter what the market is.

Maybe the latest London ULEZ emissions zone exemption for Historic Vehicles may increase Mini Values "if" they are to be driven within London & the other copycat UK Citys that also plan to target motorists .. could these local gov actions have an effect on Historic Vehicles as they becoming the latest thing to own to get around these inner city restrictions ;)

£11,024.00 for the Bronze car and £22,500 for the Blue one ! Neither original shells, that's quite a difference.

Agreed, but for a car to drive, rather than a collectors piece, does it matter too much ?

Any reason do you think why the four screws from the outer binnacle are missing - or is that a particular 970S feature...!

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25450/ ... 10&page=10

Also that bonnet "S" looks distictly wonky. Presumably a late 1964 build from the interior mirror but with the later 120+ speedo.

Somebody's been fiddling with the dash haven't they? There are some extra wires coming out from behind the binnacle in one photo and not in another :? That "S" badge does let it down a bit doesn't it - and the cheap & nasty screenwasher switch.
Generally looks a tidy car doesn't it - but why just one reclining seat??

Might have something to do with it being a 997 speedo!!
I’d like to point out that the binnacle wasn’t supplied by Bob or myself,

Looks to me that the picture has been photoshopped. There is a visible circle that does not quite match were the hole would be.

And since when were the two extra warning lights in a 120+ speedo red - I thought they were orange?

Well spotted 66Traveller .. made me check my own 120 Speedo as its sits on my shelf .. that has the 1 x Red ign; Light & Orange warning light by the 120 marking & also checked in Parnell as i would not want to refit my own 120 Speedo just in case you spotted that i too had made this obvious mistake
