It might look as though Mk 3 S prices have dropped but the reality is that there hasn't been a good original or well restored nice one for sale for quite a while.
Kev and I had a look at this one at the LCC show at the weekend. Kev didn't manage to find to much 'wrong' detail wise on our quick check over. Seemed a nice wee thing.

We didn't look under the bonnet, but I think a Mk3 should have a black, rather than Green engine?

Be interesting to see what it would make if it ever got to auction

It looked a better buy than the scabby Mk2 S in the auction with the big roof plaster for the same money!

That's nice - Hurst Park generally don't get involved in crap either.

OBG is another that I believe has had a change of base unit according to a feature in Mini Magazine some years ago. If it has, it has been done better than most. It was for sale in Ireland for over a year starting at £39995 before coming back to the UK recently.

Having had a good look around that car last week it’s stunning...the owner doesn’t frequent this forum incidentally, although I did try to persuade him too :)

Were you tempted Bryn...?

Going back to another car that was discussed late last year - the South African '62 '997 Cooper I posted a link to was at Stoneleigh Race & Retro this morning with a for sale sign on it, asking price is ''£17,500 open to offers''. I spent a while having a good look round it, it looks very nice, not perfect with some marks here and there but nice and tidy. The interior is definitely the right S.A. spec as regards the seats and door cards etc. The colour is a slightly lighter shade than the British version of Almond Green, apparently the SA Minis were sold in different hues of green throughout the production run. The bumf in the back window mentions the seller being mucked about by experts but the car itself is worth a look, it also mentions a slipping clutch which needs seeing to, it looks to me like the kind of Mini I hankered after when I first bought John Parnell's bible in '93 and wondered what it would be like to own a genuine '60s Cooper...

Edit - the rear qtr lights were the fixed sort on some SA Minis but I think the car would look better for a set of chromed opening ones.

997 looks a bargain at £17k .. i would want £28k minimum if i sold mine.
in my opinion all mini types are & have different drive experience ,my 997 has loads of torque and pleasing to drive on A&B + backroads etc but 997,s are not a long distance or motorway car .. but then again what mini is.

I was actually picking up some parts from the seller, but if I were in the market for one then it’s a real beauty.
The 997 above is a good buy , think you could get it for around £16500, shame I didn’t know you were here you could have popped and said hi on our stand ..
