That Subframe above, I don't think it is in bad condition considering how old it is!

Classic mini rear subframe from a 1990 year old mini

A fine example of the treatment meted out to many Mk1's in another (less enlightened) era :

That's true! And at least the owner wouldn't have been worrying what every other Mini owner thought about his car or lost sleep about the angle of his solenoid bracket or the date on his wiper motor. Happier times to be a Mini owner some might say?

Very good point Pete. It's a good basis though for project but is very indicative of what passed for 'improvements' back then. Carpets stuck to the inside of the doors, great cavities gouged out of the rear parcel shelf and door pockets for the speakers, (IMO) hideous wheels for a Mk1, later type of heater, later front grill and rod change gearshift which came with the Metro engine and guaranteed to destroy the engine mountings in no time especially given it's a 1275.... In fact there are similarities with my aquisition in 1987 - except mine had received a 70's makeover with everything (and I mean everything) painted black on the inside and it came with a delightful vinyl roof peeling at the edges naturally! I've got a picture somewhere...

..and cars like that were worth absolute peanuts anyway, were run on a shoestring, kept outside and actually driven (in the rain!!). You'd probably get a grand for the roof panel now!

This looks to be quite a nice Hornet:

Not sure if this is a mk1 or mk2, a bit ragged though:

One of the early mk3's, a bit tired now:
