Because Lotus built the Mk1's and Ford built the MK2's ? (as a guess)

It was that ford got annoyed that Lotus was the lead brand in the naming.

Buy that and you've got change to get yourself a decent daily driver as well.

Boxed Les Leston looks to be at the top end

If it goes for the asking price nice little earner on the commission for the auction house

Anglia Car Auctions first sale of 2019 has a couple of interesting items.

Here's a cheap entry into historic racing (HRDC A-Series anyone?)

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic ... 6-mg-1100/

Dressed up Mini Van for show goers

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic ... i-95l-van/

Ex Keith Moon 1939 Chrysler with very low estimate

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic ... limousine/

They also have a couple of over-estimated ex George Harrison cars from the 1980s, and an Austin 1300 Estate which I think has been over the block before.

Full lot list here... https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic ... 2018-12-30

I think this is a very nice Mark 1 Cooper S. Why is it listed as Austin? Date of first registration May 2018 raises another question?

That was probably the date it was reinstated onto the DVLA system and for some reason was not altered to the correct, original registration date.

When HOY was reinstated, they initially put the first date of registration as 2017. I had to get Paul Sulma to contact DVLA to point out their mistake and a correct V5C was then issued with the correct, original registration date of 4 November 1966 :D

Shame about the late front panel. On the plus side it does still have the original BMC wooden clothes peg ;)

There is a lot more iffy about that than just the panel gaps :ugeek:

Interesting. Auction description states "Fully inspected by the Cooper Register and authenticated by them as a genuine Cooper S built October 1964"

Not exactly at the auctions

Post by Peter Laidler »

Anyone in the throes of restoring a cop car of any sort, blue roof light(s) on that auction site - and at £10, pretty cheap too.

Several different variations, plug in, bolt on etc etc whatever takes your fancy
