Been chatting with the current owner of the Patti Boyd car who says it was surf blue from the factory and went 'electric blue' at Radfords before it was restored later on and painted black at George's request - so I reckon the photo with Macca in Cavendish Avenue is the same car... perhaps George or Patti were picking Macca up for a wizz round to Abbey Road...

I thought Pattie's car was orange? I hope it is Pattie's car but it's never been proved. There was just a story about someone once seeing a name on an old logbook, but sadly those stories are very common and mostly untrue. Even the dealer, to his credit. that sold it didn't claim it was Pattie's. Plus wouldn't it be very unusual for a blue car to have red interior? Like I say, I do hope he gets proof one day but until then it's just a story sadly.

Its a lookalike based on a much later car.
It certainly was Pete
Mk4 shell and doors. Bit disappointing really.

Not talking about Patti's orange Mk1 'GGU 707C' Pete, but the black Radford Cooper sold by Mike Abbas 'DYY 251B' which Steve Burkinshaw thinks was Patti's - the one featured in Cooperworld several years ago when it was restored and painted black at George's request as he wanted to buy it back (but never did). We could be going round in circles with this one but if as the current owner Stuart says is true, it was electric blue in the '60s then it's a good case for it being the same car in the Cavendish Avebue colour shot with Macca getting in our out of the passenger side, as well as being this one...
GH Patti Mini.jpg
Not conclusive proof I know but if it's not the same car, who's was it...? I'm looking for the Cooperworld article on 'DYY 251B' but haven't found it yet - I remember it mentions correspondence between the then owner Darryl Plumridge and George H over the choice of paint colour and fitting the W&P arches which came off Elton John's W&P.

Yes Nidge, Darryl was by all accounts approached by Harrison to buy the car and modify it to his spec after he'd seen it featured in a press article I think, that's 100% true. It being Pattie's car though has always been just heresay,as great as it would be to be true! The shell is definately Surf Blue originally as I had a really good look at it about three years ago. I did email Pattie a few years ago to ask but no reply, others have tried and got the same.

This may or may not be true. Many years ago I was told that John Lennon gave his black Radford to his housekeeper. It was kept on a houseboat moored in Brighton which caught fire and burnt out. The car was scrapped. This could well be made up nonsense although I was shown a green logbook with two lines across with the word scrapped between.

The interior in the black (P Boyd ?) car is not the original - the red leather seats were mine - came from a 1071 Radford that was returned to standard spec (it still exists and is Almond green Old English white). So the colour of the interior is not a reliable guide to the original colour of the exterior!

I'd heard that the front seats were out of Murph's car but didn't know the rest wasn't? So the red trim colour combo may be / is non original. Boyd might be able to cast some light but several have tried and failed..

No Nidge. There's a couple of people who've told me that "Lennon's car" is being restored by their mate, but then no more info is ever forthcoming. Nothing Ive ever heard over the last thirty years or so about "Lennon's Radford" fills me with any hope that a real car survives.

Inclined to agree Pete, if it was still out there I'm sure we'd have seen something of it by now. The other's could easily have gone the same way but I'm glad they're still around.

DYY 251B's original interior was "Ambla" vinyl covered - a sort of orange red colour if I remember rightly - so not entirely impossible that it could have been combined with turquoise blue metallic I guess.

This is the 1071 Radford the interior came from. Shame it was de-Radfordised. Looked like a cracking car.
