Anyone remember Gordon Jones Red Mini Van ?
It was a Street Machine magazine feature car ?
5.7 V8 engine .
.
Is this the one? It has been at the Normanby Hall Mini Show a couple of times.
I remember this one, it was over here in the 80ies, for the Copenhagen Custom Car Show.
After the show, all cars took to the streets, and cruised / raced untill the early morning.

I went to a major classic car show in Cornwall last weekend. It was sorry. The mini turnout was poor. A few weeks ago, I attended Tregrehan hillclimb, there were 2 minis, rather than about 12. The 'scorts were thin on the ground too. I went to the local scrapyard and had a poke around and remember saying to myself "bloody small valve, low compression engines everywhere, I want an MG" and there wasn't a single metro, let alone a morris minor or anything else remotely interesting. Just crap.
It seems with the increase in value of these assets, people are putting them back as they left the factory and then putting them in an air conditioned store.
The last 10 years have completely changed the classic car world. Classics have gone from being 60's icons for potentially less than £1000 to piles of rust and logbooks fetching that.
In fact I miss Kevved up cars. What happened to big exhausts, horrible alloys and tuned engines? All I seem to see are pretty stock VW TDis with no "arch gap". Boring, uninspiring and tedious.
I was having tea on the terrace with my classic bike enthusiast chum, we were listening to queues for the local ferry and the only raucous noises came from bikes. What happened to noisy cars? I turned my stereo off and opened my window the other day to anticipate being overtaken by a 911. It was an anticlimax.
I suppose I need to redress the balance and get mine on the road

Well known custom cars were invited from Sweden & UK , we also had that flat Mini (Andy Saunders I think his name was) it was Purple & very low.

Well it was built in Hull, actually watched this from the chassis stage and the van shell was from leicester iirc.
He's never told me about any trips abroad, but I'll ask him next time I see him.

Had a look in the link, it said the car was finished in 1997, so it cant have been that one.
But please ask him regarding the other V8 Mini van (s) .
people who buillt these cars, tend to know the story on fellow cars/projects .

No, the red Van pictured is not the one .

Gordon Jones does not own the van and it has not been on road since 1995 but is still on DVLA .

Well that could be the one from Copenhagen Custom Car Show.
Anyone have contact with the guy who build it ?
Back in those days all was MUCH better = you not only got petrol & ferry cost covered.
They also payed for hotel & food all days you were there to display your car.
