Is there supposed to be some sort of liner in the boot area? I seem to remember having seen one that continues up the inside of the bootlid? Is this correct and are they available anywhere?

There's been a little progress this week, and i popped in to see OSM yesterday to have a quick look. The new dash liner, speedo and pod and door cards and pulls have been fitted, the glass is now back in and pretty much all of the external trim has been fitted too. It is really starting to come together now; just waiting on the carpet and the re-sprung (well it's actually like crude webbing) seats to come back.
Also... a little piece of treasure i collected earlier today

There is a rubber mat, that is fitted to the bootlid, and goes into the boot.
Somewhere there is a thread about this, I belive they are being reprodused in Australia or New Zealand ?
The 59 guys know what year(s) they were fitted.

Newton Commercial do the full boot and boot lid liner in hardura. And also full boot board and bracket kits as per Cooper / S models.

Try Brian Purvis for just the boot floor liner. (looking at one of these myself)

Thanks for the information guys - i will look into that.
Pleased to hear you like the way the car is turning out. I am over-the-moon with it so far! Not too long to go now, as we are just waiting on the original seats to come back and a new carpet set to arrive to finish off the interior.
Many thanks again to the people on this forum who have pointed me in the right direction for the difficult to find bits and pieces we have required so far. I am particularly chuffed to have got my hands on the Wingard glass bottle!
3 months to go until the wedding now so once i've picked the car up (hopefully next week sometime?) i have just got to keep it hidden for that time without it being discovered!

Well we managed to collect the car from OSM on Friday, and it has turned out even better than I expected
I really cannot fault the work they have done and the car looks and drives brilliantly. There are still a few outstanding things to do; the obvious one being the engine bay. We are also waiting on the set of original corner bars to be re-chromed, I have to re-rivet one of the front grille bars on as it is loose and hangs very very slightly lower than it should (looks pretty obvious when you know it is there! See pic...it's the middle bar) and the petrol gauge always reads full so we need to source the correct sender for the early unit fitted on the dash. I've also had some J A Pearce centre cap stickers made so have to turn up some aluminium centre caps to replicate the well worn original pair i have.
One more thing - does anybody know what the original colour of the hinged plate to which the rear number plate is mounted should be? I need to get this one re-powder coated as it is pretty poor. It is currently a darkish grey/dull metallic gold??? Would it have originally been black?
I will attach a few pictures.
Cheers Martin.

That looks fantastic - good work! It looks pretty low and the wheels really set it off.

Wow that's a real beauty from top to bottom - you must be dead chuffed!
Mind if I ask where you got those gorgeous JAP wheels refurbished and how much they charged...? (please feel free to PM me on this if you'd rather not say on the open forum). It's something I've been considering since my car went in for resto last September.... they look stunning on your Mk1
Edit - the rear number plate hanger should be black

Hi there,
Pleased to hear you like the way the car has turned out.... only a few months until the wedding now and it is safely hidden away for the time being. The last few bits and bobs have arrived from Newton Commercial now, the front grille has been fixed and the rear number plate surround has been powder coated satin black. The only thing i am waiting on is the corner bars to return from being re-chromed.
All very exciting.
For the JAP wheel refurbishment i used

Hi all,
Well, we got married and she loved the car! Not much more to say apart from a big thank you to the many people on this forum who helped with the restoration
The car went down very well indeed and she hasn't stopped driving it since we got back off honeymoon a few weeks ago.
It was delivered to her at the venue at 9a.m. on the morning of the wedding, which was great as the photographer caught her totally unprepared which made for some highly amusing 'curler' photo's
Cheers Martin.
p.s. the eagle-eyed among you will spot that the wheels were on the wrong sides of the car so the tread pattern is the wrong way round.... not that we were in a bit of a rush finishing off the car the day before the wedding or anything!?!

That is a cracking car.
I had a set of Japs and with S brakes, they were totally OTT.
They look great on your car though.
