Only one could be sold with the registration number. Any copies would have a different registration number.

My dad remembers FMO back then, a guy bought it , and it lived up the road from where I am now. Then sold to a guy in Ambleside, who used it everyday, said it was pretty knackered by 1967, he sold to a guy from Liverpool.

A mystery - it may well have been just weighed in but even in '84 there was some interest in 1959 cars as long as they weren't completely knackered.

665VPF is on SORN so it's survived.

Just goes to show how easy it is to miss cars, I've lived all my life in or around the Crowthorne area and never saw the Cooper S that was in the advert!
There used to be an early S that dashed around the Broadmoor area painted in a lovely shade of chocolate brown, including the brocade seats, but that disappeared in the early '80's as a lot of them tended to after being 'ragged' for the previous 20 years.

Amazingly it sill exists but in need of serious restoration. It still belongs to a friend of mine whose mother bought the car in 1965. It was him who posted the for sale ad in 1984 but obviously had nobody interested in buying it. I ended up storing it at my premises for many years until he eventually took it back home. He was only talking to me recently about getting it restored. It will need a lot of work though.

Thanks for the update on 250 LPK.......at least he won't look back with regret and wish he had not sold it back in '84 or scrapped it. The current value on the market should mean a good financial return for him even as a barn find/basket case project.
