If you’ve used grease or oil on it it’ll just gunge up again.

I’ve had a similar issue before, and it turned out to be the solenoid not fully engaging. The high-pitched whizzing noise usually means the starter gear isn't catching properly. I’d start by checking the solenoid since it’s often the culprit, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at the starter motor too, especially if it’s been a while since it was replaced.

that is the noise my starter was making in my laser that iswhy the auto elec put the relay in the line so full power was going to the solinoid direct instead of going through the ignition switch which now just operates the relay
