Its interesting that black was the standardised interior trim option in 1969-70 across all exterior colours (like the Mk2 Cooper / Cooper S I guess). Also interesting that Teal Blue isn't on the exterior colour published list for that year (my car was that colour from new) yet there is a Motorgraphs Longbridge production line photo from late 1969 early 1970 with an Antelope and a Teal Blue car. Presumably things had already begun to fall apart by then!

I think the first car in that Motor Graphs shot is a Clubman Saloon in Blue Royale. Can't see a GT badge and it looks like a Clubman grille. Also looks to have drum brakes

Yes noticed that the first car isn't a GT - but the colour isn't Blue Royale (BU 38) I don't think - its too light and vibrant. Looks like Teal (BLVC 18)...

Not much difference between Blue Royale and Teal. Also it looks like they used flash for the picture, which always messes with the true colour in a photo.

I have a set of genuine NOS red vinyl side stripes , what i can gather is these are only for white cars , so not very sort after.

That is true about flash - but the Antelope still looks Antelope... And Blue Royale is a lot darker (much darker than Trafalgar Blue for example)

That must have looked quite good to be fair! I've never seen a surviving 1275GT with Geranium tim - does anybody know of one?

Since we have a GT thread , could I ask if anyone has the hinges off their Clubman? I thought I had sussed it about 20 years ago as I made a guide to bonnet hinges that enables me to identify odd ones. I have ignored the early Mk3 ones that bolt directly into the bonnet

I must have taken one off an original car years ago and measured it the same as a late Mini one.

We have a 78 GT we are working on at present. I sold the owner some hinges a while back and he has never put the bonnet back on. Now that we have fitted it on , it needed the earlier Mk3 one to get it to fit so I expect they are not all the same

The distance between the pivot point and the nearest stud is approx 12cm on a late one (BMP348/9) and about 10.75 on the middle age Mk3 one

Not sure why it changed style in middle-aged Clubmans - it was certainly before the pivot bracket on the bulkhead changed in the late 80's or so to a 3 hole (adjustable) version

Indeed!- I wonder why there were so many changes over time.

A couple of photos of one of the bonnet hinges off my 1970 GT.

The early Mk3 1275GT bonnet hinges clearly had round nose counterparts judging by the underside of the bonnet in the third photo. I'm still intrigued by why this design change was made only to be abandoned with a couple of months...

...do you still have that A-Panel with the badge holes in. If you do any chance of a measure up so people can see the positions of the holes for said badge.

I've seen a Mk3 Saloon in those colours.

Gloria Jones' GT was Balck Tulip, with an ochre interior, hence the yellow stripes seen in that picture, and this one

I think/understand from the time that the bonnet hinge shape changed progressively so that eventually, via the succession of changes to the bonnet, the bonnet could be fully raised to the extent that it would over-top-dead-centre itself and remain there unsupported which made servicing easier and more accessible and prevented any damage to the scuttle panel.

Happened to the mini too. But I could be wromg......

Mine is a1970 the plate on the landing panel is marked 1969, the vents have the small knobs, the Rev counter red line is at 6500, it still has the original painted on prune 1275 side stripes, it still has the original Leland sticker on the rocker cover,it has electric washers,and a bonnet lock, and radiator expansion tank behind the front panel, I have left it as it has always been because they were all fitted by the supplying dealer, the car has never had a nut and bolt rebuild , the only panels that have been replaced are the A panels and battery box,other than that it is almost as it was supplied new.

Yes I have taken a few photos but they are not very good because the car is in a council lock up and there is not a lot of room, I can’t get it outside at the moment ,I am waiting to have the suspension pumped up, but I will try to get somebody to show me how to send the photos I have taken, sorry but I am not very good with modern technology, but I really would like you to see the car.

A couple of small items

First up are the door rubbers. In the '70's these were colour matched to the vinyl trim. You can see the colour coded door rubbers on this low mileage Clubman. . This applies to all Mk3 and Clubman models, but check the charts as some early GTs had black fitted. I have also seen colour coded rear opening quarter rubbers. These are just about impossible to find now, so if you have a set hang on to them.

The other item is the badge supplied with the ST 1275GT S pack. They used the badge from the 1800S, advising that it should be attached to the boot.

Thanks for the reminder Surfy. I tried the GT door rubbers, in black. in my new 1970Mk2 S because they looked better than the usual door rubbers - and while they fitted, I couldn't close the doors as the rubbers were oversize for the Mk2 doors
