I have started work on the gearbox and engine. A nice std. 1128 remote box came with the car, so took it apart, and made room for the LSD diff

This nice thick flange block came with the car, and will be the basis for the new engine. Freshly made with new liners some 35 years ago :-)

"S" conrods, with chamfered bolts :o

A hardcore Mini engine builder will know why :-)

Yes Mark, the 8 port will go back in where it belongs :-)

I think this Cylinder head is one of the main reasons, why I have been hunting this car for more than 30 years.

It just enhance the magic about this old rally car.

When the brothers first started using the Arden 8 port, it came with this inlet manifold, but it cracked many times, as can be seen from the welding they did on it

They did a god job , in making a new shorter manifold. The Webers is fitted much closer together now.

This made it possible to fit the std. bonnet, but it is a tight fit, look how the front bolt on the Weber lid is missing

Very nice manifold! Gives me the envy to put webers on my engine!

Of what is the bonnet made? Steel or fiberglass?

Very interesting tread you share with us! Thanks!

Regards Fabian

It is a std steel bonnet :D

But I do have a genuine alloy bonnet in matt black, that has lots of patina, so will match the rest of the car.

This really was a beautifully prepared car wasn't it!

Every detail is absolutely fantastic.

Certainly my "Find of the years" so far.

Thank you everyone, great that I am not the only one that thinks this old crap is fun.

It now looks like a 4x4 without the engine, I can see they have raised the car with shims.
