Interesting article linked below going behind the scenes at Talking Pictures TV.....
Inside Talking Pictures.
"A retro TV channel that resurrects forgotten movies and cult series which recently celebrated its fifth birthday with 3.5 million weekly viewers - and it’s all run from a family home in Watford. You might call the Talking Pictures cable channel the anti-Netflix, with its roster of forgotten minor movies alongside cult series and documentaries. There is nothing ostentatious or big-budget about Talking Pictures. It is run by a family in an ordinary house on an ordinary road in a village near Watford. Their headquarters is an extension in the garden, full of film canisters, DVDs and strings of thank-you cards from loyal fans. The team comprises Sarah Cronin-Stanley, a vintage TV and film fan and former actor; her husband, Neill, who produces the weekly newsletter and looks after TV regulations compliance; and Sarah’s dad Noel Cronin, a film distributor who began his career six decades ago in the Rank Organisation post-room. Noel Cronin joined the Rank Organisation in 1962, at 14, delivering post at their film-processing laboratories in Park Royal, west London. Having progressed to occasional executive producing and film distribution in the 1990s, he noticed old films disappearing from TV schedules: “Black and white suddenly became a no-no on TV. Gone were the days when you could catch old classics popping up on mainstream TV.
“Don’t get me on my soapbox now!” he laughs. “The BBC and ITV went for cheap programming instead. All that awful ‘buy a house, bake a cake, weed your window box’ stuff. A film has always had more worth than that.
However, the channel’s resurrection of the past got them into trouble in 2018 for broadcasting several films that included racist language. Ofcom waded in. Today, any film with offensive content is trailed appropriately. “We absolutely weren’t endorsing that language, in the same way that we don’t endorse the attitudes to women and other groups [that] were very different back then. But I also think it’s important that we don’t rewrite those films. It’s important to learn from the mistakes of the past,” says Cronin-Stanley.

Saturday 14th January 2023 - 21:30 - Talking Pictures TV channel
Vanishing Point
1971. Action. Director: Richard Sarafian. Stars, Barry Newman, Cleavon Little & Dean Jagger.
"Kowalski works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to San Francisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's."
The official Video Trailer:-
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067927/
"There were many rumors over the years about what happened to all eight 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Magnum cars used in the film, like how they were returned to Chrysler after filming who sold them or how they were sold by studio on salvage auction, but in one of the interviews before his death director Richard C. Sarafian revealed the actual truth. All Challengers were returned to Chrysler, seven out of eight were damaged after being put through a lot during filming and only one was returned in good condition, however after they saw the film they were "pissed because their cars were in a movie that promoted drugs and running from the cops", so they crushed all eight. Ironically, Vanishing Point was a huge reason why the Challenger became popular as one of the best muscle cars and today both the film and the car have cult status."

Did anyone catch it and if so was it the same footage as available on You Tube?

One of mine. It was an oddball, built by BMC as a 998 Cooper with plain Mini Deluxe body and trim plus an S 120 speedo. I picked it up around 1999 with a GRP Clubman front, rusty as an old horseshoe.
I know who has 'the remains'
so it could come back to life if anyone wanted to resurrect it. Regrettably I didn't enquire with BMIHT at the time.

'Space Patrol' also comes to Talking Pictures TV (Sky 328, Freeview 82, Virgin 445, Freesat 306) from Saturday 15th June @ 9.50am:-

I think you need to be a certain age to remember 'Space Patrol' 39 episodes first shown on ITV in 1963/64 but rarely repeated. Until it appeared on DVD about 10 years ago I could not work out why no one else seemed to remember it or the spaceship that spun like a spinning top and the sound it made...
"Usually overlooked, this superior children’s puppet series from the early 1960s is not held in higher esteem, primarily because it reached the screen at the same time as Gerry Anderson’s futuristic adventures were beginning to take off and shows like Supercar and Fireball XL5 overshadowed it.
For many years it was believed that the entire series had been lost until 1997, when the creator, Roberta Leigh was approached by a video company about a possible DVD release and discovered that she had a complete set of 16mm prints that she had stored away in a lockup decades earlier and forgotten about."

The long running 1960/70's Police series
'Z Cars' returns to TV next weekend with plenty of 'period' Police cars and street scenes featured that some of us will remember from back in the day. I always remember the Mk3 Ford Zephyr 6's featured in the early 1960's episodes as my dad had a 1962 Mk3 Ford Zephyr 4 at the time which replaced his rusting Vauxhall Cresta and then later bought a brand new black Zephyr 4 in 1965.
TPTV
Coming soon. Z-CARS Talking Pictures TV Sky 328 Freeview 82 Virgin 445 Freesat 306.
"We are very pleased to say that one of our most highly requested series ever premieres on TPTV this week and you won’t want to miss this. Z-CARS has arrived, and it airs on Saturday 28th September at 7pm. As Noel explained last week, we will be starting with the 70s episodes, and when we can, we will air the earlier episodes at a later date when all the various permissions and technical restoration processes have been completed, so do stay tuned for updates. This week’s gripping episode is ‘The Cinder Path’ from 1973 and is in colour."
