So on with the last bit of the story of the Countess, had some issues with the remote brake servo at this point so
a quick visit to Minispares to pick up a repair kit this was soon overcome, then after the application of some more
underbody protection with Bilt Hamber wax ect, got the wheels back on,

Image

Image

as previously said I think getting the embellishers for, it as they were fitted originally ! finishes the wheels of many
thanks to ( Mr Hipwell) on here! and of coarse Ritch ;) ,
I had to modify the plastic?? wheel arch trim at the ends to match the way Oyler had cut the flanges a bit of dremmel
workbook care of it, the car did I believe have painted steel trims fitted! but they are as rare as Rocking Horse Poo,
and I remember scrapping the metal ones back in the day  hindsight is a virtue as they say,

Image

I re covered the inside of the glovebox to match the headlining, the actual glove box is metal with wood ends,
the cup holders were set into the glovebox door, the heater pipe is still to be clipped up! had to take it done to get
the radio out for repair,

Image

the hip flask and the tots, (unfortunately not the originals ) are as in the build sheet from Oyler, the small fire extinguisher
is the original,

first time out of my garage and first time driving for a few years, a little run round to check out brakes ect for MOT,
I presented it for its test a couple of days later, the only issue was a refusal on the headlamp orientation. I had only
checked the lamps for operation, they were LHD so the kick up was wrong, they were the lamps that came on the car
when I bought it    being a retired MOT man very embarrassing ,
after a bit off running about on a snowy day managed to get a pair of lamps (without side lamp holes) local,
The next morning a quick retest on the lights! certificate was issued , as the car was registered 07/01/1978 and I had
a Heritage Certificate proving it was built 06/02/1976 and delivered to Cox of Keithley 27/02/1976 I thought it would
be straight forward to get Historic Vehicle Tax, had to Pay for the moment and send all the paperwork to Swansea.

I decided before the drive to Bingley to get some miles on it so the first visit was to Meltham still in West Yorks
and let the gent whom owned it for most of its life see it,

Image

I think his face tells he was happy with the result, more so he has promised to get me its original reg no as the car had
when it came out of Oylers ;)

Image
Image

then a visit to Minispares North to pickup some just in case spares! quite interesting first time on the M62 in a Classic Mini!!
those Truck Wheels look huge in a little mini :o brought back memories of back in the day traveling to Holland sitting in the
queue for the old Antwerp Tunnel in those days most trucks had front mounted exhausts with a 3+" pipe exiting at window
height and the was before the days o AdBlue and emission controls,

And so to its first ever journey out of West Yorkshire to Bingley Hall Staffordshire,

The little thing drove and behaved brilliantly on its run to and from the show not the fastest probably due to the weight
but really comfortable, (we Mostly enjoyed the first time I have shown a car) thanks to anybody I spoke to hope you enjoyed
what you saw, the plan is to take it to some more shows over the year, hope to meet some other people,
Please say hello . now its back to gardening, decorating ect and the odd jobs, and keeping The Countess clean and running
well.

Cheers from The Count& Countess

A lovely job and I look forward to seeing it up close soon. Couldn't resist this comment though and hope the lady is not related.
Is this a revival of the dead parrot sketch with a "parrot on the roof shoulder?" (My inspiration was the poster on the balcony). :D

What a cracking thread on what must be one of the more unusual specials.
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the gardening etc.

Best wishes.

Thanks again for the comments guys, just thought that the original build sheet for the car might
be of interest, with photo as the car was when it left the Coachbuidere

Image

Built by Oyler in Hanson Lane, Halifax West Yorkshire.
Restored by a retired ex Scot in West Yorkshire, :D

Anybody know anything about the electronic ign that as fitted to it originally :?:

Image

Image

as can be seen the wires that went to the dissy have been cut! so in op, I would like to put electronic ign
back on it, at the moment don't know what type, back in the day I ran Piranha, we also used it in the Auto cross
car, now rather pricey.

You could maybe email Kenlowe and see if they can give any details?

It is briefly mentioned here (or at least electronic ignition is):

Frank very graciously drove to my house yesterday (still West Yorkshire!) to bring me a period handbook that he wanted nothing for, I offered to pay but was turned down!
It was a pleasure to see the car in the flesh, with so many well thought out details, but even more of a pleasure to meet the man behind its resurrection!
Sir, Thank You!!!

No problem Simon, pleasure to meet you, hope I didn't keep you from work for to long!
us retired guys sometimes forget about time ;)
sad to say that the car gave some problems on the roundabout at the M1 junction! thankfully
not on the motorway, I knew I shouldn't have asked on here about the Kenlowe ignition system
the dreaded old problem of points struck, despite having checked them after the first few miles
before going to Bingley (had no probs on that journey ) the gap disappeared  now I will
defiantly need to get something sorted for Electronic ign! have tried emailing Kenlowe email just
bounced back :? Thanks for the suggestion GraemeC now looking at Lumenition or????

Few systems listed here, even mention of piranha, morphed into another name now , I remember them as well,
though that particular brand seems more applicable to motorbikes now

I use the CSI distributor, no boxes to hide, the casing is new so no wear, the only difference is one extra wire

So correct on that, but having a business at that time between Faslane and Rosyth most off
them were.
