I hope it's not me causing this controversy , (the FB group is not mine) I've said it on more than one occasion, but I'll say it again, I have absolutely no problem with anything that anyone does to their own cars, there are some amazingly talented people out there who do fantastic work achieving results I could never match.

My car wil never be as well finished as a lot of the Sprints out there, I have chosen not to cover every weld and join prefering to leave what was done when it was built unchanged to preserve its history, truth be told I even had a dillema over what colour to paint it as at various stages with its first owner it changed colour, I could have picked any colour but chose the one it was painted when it was first converted as I thought that it was more important to be respectful to the history of the car and the choices that were made by the original owner when it was first done rather than my personal preferences.

People are free to choose to go to who ever they want to have work done, or do it themselves, who am I to criticise their decisions, the whole Minisprint / Sprinted Mini description is just personal opinion, no different to GT40 / GTD 40's. Shelby / AC / everyone else Cobras etc etc, there's room out their for everything

No Mark, not at all, everyone is entitled to their opinion and what you wrote was from your perspective.

I would think that Neville is very proud of his legacy, cars that have been admired and copied for 50 years now.

Lush. The one I meant was at Beaulieu going back 5 years that was surf blue with a gold brocade trim. Seemed like an odd combination but worked out beautifully. Think it was on French plates.

I think the cut down bonnets actually suit the mini shape better than the originals

Couldn't agree more.

However Nev has taken this on board & his current Sprints retain this important front panel / wing seam.

Back in the day if we were replacing say just a wing, accident related etc and the front panel was a bit ropy
we used to seem weld and create a seam with a 1mm cutting disc, crude but effective
