could be Rich but i fit a new CV and that seems faulty but who knows could be the accident but had a great run through until that happened. We changed it in the pit and sent it out again.

Well in the official results It shows I beat the Jag by 0.008 seconds - now if that isn't a "Nats Chuff!" I don't know what is ????

It's not the only thing I was holding !!!!!

Interesting to see how that Jag was going to hit his Apex and where he expected me to go - given I was alongside from the hairpin as observed by the photographer on the autosport forum. As I suspected - nowhere to go - no track - anchors on - phew - will be interesing to see how this looks on tv ? It would have helped if I actually had any brakes all day - a very long pedal with no feel, I only discovered the brakes 3 laps from the end braking into "Old Hall" and having to have another stab at the brakes as there was nothing there first time - quite scary !!!! Having discovered some brakes I was able to catch the Jag and drive round the outside, last time round Lodge Corner and then somehow keep him behind me to the line - quite satisfying after conducting an in depth study of his rear bumper for the best part of 1/2 an hour.

There's some great photos on this thread chaps !!!!!!!! :)

Who's car is Nick running? They've built a new one?

Looks like it, quite strange it's got his company writ large down the side, didn't think that was allowed ?

I missed a couple of Minis in my first post, so here's a few more shots to even things up.

Some great snaps there Stuart. 8-)

What happened to Moreno then, he was certainly giving it some welly, over revved it ?

Paddock gossip was that the tell tale was showing 11300, so I suspect he slotted 1st instead of 3rd.
Which is surprisingly easy to do, I can now admit...(being in such good company!)
A shame actually, as he was very quick. Would've been a even more interesting race with him and Ron in it.

Maybe next time.

I thought we were in for a great 'finale' when it started spotting with rain, but it never really came. Draaat !

You seemed to have a bit of a lonely race Christian which can happen at Oulton, big circuit isn't it. I sometimes wonder whether using the shorter national circuit would be more fun ?

Talking of Moreno I've never seen such aggressive warming of tyres on the warm up lap, I thought he was going to end up in the lake ! He was certainly a talking point.

He had some fun scaring the Mustangs, shame it only lasted for a couple of laps.

Thanks Pete.

I got up at stupid o'clock so I could get too the track early and see the practice and to try some different locations. In the end I used the same ones as I used for the Gold Cup. When I felt the spots of rain I started shooting video, just in case something happened  .

I should be there and will be glad to meet you. I have enjoyed your pics on this site and if you get any nice pics of myself , I'd be pleased to include them in my scribblings in the mag, together with a credit of course. The mag makes the choices on pics; with Mallory last October I was hoping some of the nice ones that appeared on here but didn't make it.

I have'nt looked how the new chicane will be for access for taking pics; it's moved more towards the middle of the straight before. We've had a lovely email to remind us to brake a little earlier!

From what I recall at the Masters Donington Revived Meeting you would need to be on the infield, last year you needed a Press Pass to get there, otherwise it would be quite tricky getting near there. However there were some fantastic photos of the new chicane taken by Jeff Bloxham of the Mini Race, one of which made the front cover of the Mini Cooper Register Magazine.

From what I recall its slower in with no Margin for error as there is a Maaaaasive Kerb on the entry now, so no cutting the corner, however it does open up on the exit nicely, so you can get on the power nice and early. That does mean you're carrying 10mph or so more into Redgate, which on a 3.9 diff is second and a half gear, quite a frustrating corner in a Mini and incredibly difficult to get right.

I haven't been to Donington for a few years so I will be wandering around looking for a good spot, I might try the outside of the old hairpin, as things can get a bit hairy down there.

You're absolutely right, it was a bit of a time trial once Nick eased away (grrr), but I had some fun lapping the Scragg Jag at the end.
I think the mk2 is the Mini's perfect foil. Not as fast as the yank V8's, so they don't run off up the road! I know Yorkie will have a slightly different view, having had a slap from the same car, but a grid of 10 Jags and 10 Mini's would be worth watching IMHO!

Actually, thinking back, I remember being eased into the inside at Dear Leap by the same Jag as we were side by side. So close in fact, that I saw (for the first time) an RSJ planted in the ground that I was getting a bit concerned about...If anybody was taking piccies from there, I would love to see how close it actually was. I was worried for my door handle.

As far as the track layout, I'm sure we would be more competitive overall on the shorter track, but then we'd miss the fun of easing round Island Bend flat. And we might get a bit dizzy after an hour!
