Congrats to Steve on his 3rd win on the event and to Andy on his 1st. :D Great also to see Keith and James take the Newcomer class, after a frustrating 2016 event for them, as well as have Chloe and David win the Novice again, although you will have to move up a class now guys! ;) 8-)

As ever, big thanks to everyone that made the event happen 8-) , in particular our merry band of marshals from the MCR and the local MC's, as well as sponsors YBracing and Green Mountain Travel :D. They're unlikely to read this but we're also very grateful to the landowners that gave us the run of their land for the tests and parts of the rally after dark. With this being the event's 10th anniversary, we pulled all the stops out to put on something a little different this year but couldn't have done it without their co-operation, kindness and patience. All the folk at the start, rest halt and finish were also absolute legends. :D

Everyone likes minis tho eh?

Niall.

Shame you can't bottle it. I'd buy the wife some every Christmas

Who was scrutineering? Quite a few partially obscured front number plates that would not normally pass.

How do you find the ring/bore wear?

I ran it in one of my minis in the 80's but took it out and went back to 'normal' oil (which requires a fullstrip and rebuild) when the compressions started to drop.

The bores were worn and the rings badly worn.

Great smell, especially on start up. :D :D

To be honest I can’t say I notice anything excessive, then again the car doesn’t exactly do that much mileage - be lucky to see 1000 miles in a year (although what it does do is quite hard on it!)

Should be good for a few years then. I noticed the wear on mine when it had done 12,000 miles....

Many thanks to Nial and all the organizers and marshals for putting on a fantastic event. We enjoyed every minute of it!
The tests were great fun, especially the go kart track!
It was certainly worth the 520 mile round trip for us and we really appreciate the novices class and all the help and encouragement from the other friendly competitors.
We will be back next year and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to have fun in their mini!
Luke

Oops :o forgot to mention Richard Derrick and Robert Duley won Best MCR Crew award and that Stephen Reynolds and Stuart Lamb took the 10th Anniversary one. As I said on the night, rallies run on entries and the latter crew have done every event since the first one in 2008 bar one when their car had engine troubles but they still managed to marshal in it for us. All that and they come up from Timbuktu! Cheers for your support and enthusiasm fellas, it is very much appreciated by us all 8-)

Niall.

Quick announcement to make regarding the 2018 event and that is it will be on Saturday 17th November. 8-) We don't normally commit to a date this early but the calendar is filling up fast already plus the HRCR wanted to know as it will be part of their Premier Champs once again. It also gives potential entrants a ton of time to fix up their cars and get a bit of practice in, which always helps ;) . We'll be running the gauntlet with the weather again but hopefully it'll be kind to us once more. If not, then pack the snow tyres and expect Monte like conditions folks! Niall.
