Wow that really is a fantastic find, virtually brand new. As for the price, well it's still a bloody Mini .
Every dealer and his dog thinks they've hit the jacpot with Minis at the moment, few of 'em are selling though not suprisingly.
Agree, but if I was going to spend THAT amount of money,
I would choose this, over old no 8 anyday.

I'd rather have the Transit at a 1/3rd the price. Probably rare to.

Shame it's on a hydro shell! maybe '66 fitted with it's original interior and doors. It looks like it might have been a white or red car originally the fact it has a black roof. But all that happened early in it's life looking at the condition of her. Will be interesting to see what it makes.

Notice how they've both been bid up to the exact same amount by the same bidder .... not suggesting anything of course
(in case they come on here)

Just on the subject, did we ever get rough date when S/S trims were used , I know some have said the earliest 1071's had them but then didn't Simon say they didn't ? I've recently seen a late April '63 that looked like it had them from new so maybe the earliest S's did, but any idea of a cut off anyone ?

According to JP's book, the changeover date from stainless steel to PVC was in January 1963 - body number 13068.

British Leyland used them on the 1969 press photo, of the dismantled GT.
In the picture you can see a full set of S/S trim .
The car (parts) are most likely a "mock up" for press use, as it also has what appears to be a White roof.

I wonder if cars fitted up at Fisher and Ludlow were the same, seen two or three later original looking (unrestored) cars now with SS trim, one was from F&L.

Was it just the stainless steel trim that was pop-riveted onto the body or was the PVC trim originally riveted too?

Probably goes without saying ,but folks don't get ripped off buying this kind of set
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMC-BRITISH-L ... 2a237eab69
These are freely available brand new from most good upholstery suppliers @30p per 'C' clip and around 20p each for the edge clips. Therefore a total of around £6.20 in comparison .
Cheers
Gareth
