Re: 1960 / 70's Mini Racing Photos
"Alec Poole was the British Touring Car Champion in 1969 in a Mini Cooper S. He explained that the trick in qualifying was to perhaps not get out of the way of the bigger class Escorts and when they slowed slightly, to tuck in behind them for the all important tow! He also spoke briefly about a fearsome machine Alec raced known as the Complan Turbo Mini. That car grew from 1300cc to 1430cc during development and ended up with huge arches and a Clubman style front and as Alec explained, there were teething problems but when it went, it really went! This car was reputed to have in excess of 180bhp from an A-series turbo in 1971 and it was apparently sold to the Carribean, as was his next project, a 4.5 litre P6 Rover."

Re: 1960 / 70's Mini Racing Photos
The Mini racing chapter below is extracted from Gerry Marshall's 1978 Biography.
Although most remembered for his later Vauxhall DTV racing days, his son Gregor Marshall’s records for his father’s 1963 to August 1965 Mini forays shows 40 race entries in all Mini types from 850 to 1275 S. They also reveal 16 class wins (mostly in sprints), including two outright race victories.
Also his occasional return to Mini racing in the late 1960's:-

and an epic race with Gerry in a Mini and Roger Williamson in a Ford Anglia on Boxing Day 1970:-
