Nice collection of period ads! 8-)

I remember visiting 'Super Accessories' in Lewisham on a few occasions in the 1970's, they sold me a set of chrome 'Wood & Pickett' Nudge Bars at a very good price but they rusted pretty quickly and were then changed to stainless steel !
More about 'Super Accessories' here:-
https://mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/super_acc.htm

I also fitted a set of 'Lander door locks' to my Mk1 back in the day as so many Minis were being easily stolen by breaking the door handle or forcing the passenger sliding window open to access the internal lock lever.

Looks like 'Super Accessories' dates back to the original Austin 7....

I am sure I have a pair of these somewhere, thanks for the reminder. If I find them they can go on the car ;-)

The LANDER lock thinggy was interesting. Good idea - except that being so low to the road, you just couldn't keep the road grit and debris out of them. The smallest bits of grit and salty water would get into the keyhole and block/corrode the mechanism after a short while and the same corrosion always set about the area around the lock.

That was my experience. The man at 'Car and Boat' in Havelock Street in Swindon had chromed (or stainless ?) blanking plugs made to replace them ones you'd taken the locks off!

A bit of irony in the Italian mini ad above....., that they're cheaper here in the UK. Not in my experience they weren't! ALWAYS cheaper in Europe

The other irony is the Italians would have purchased a home grown Innocenti!

Also, here's a bit of a puzzle, there is something not quite right with that car in the second ad, what is it?

It has a standard Mk3 bootlid rather than the Innocenti one with the square indent for the number plate.

Bingo, we have a winner (unless it's a Clubman with a 1000 badge).

That's what I reckon is most likely. BL wouldn't expect anyone to notice and just photographed whatever they had to hand ;)
Especially on earlier adverts and brochures there was a lot of "touching up" by hand wasn't there
It is a UK advert, so they used a UK car and just stuck an Italian plate on it.

It's certainly one of the best colours of the era - Teal Blue, my favourite of all time too. Probably a date-less colour, a bit like the what we used to call service' colours. Block white, red etc
