Think the price is for 35 and first refusal on the other 35, at the same price

So that's £6k plus machining. A lot of bread to shell out. If it's someone from here that gets them I'd also be interested in 2 sets of 5.

At £6k for 70 wheels that is £85 per wheel plus machining. If you managed to get the machining and painting done for £30 per wheel you would be doing well. Then you have to move them from where they are to where they get painted and from there to where need to be machined and then to where you need to store them while they get sold. Just in costs alone you would be lucky for each wheel to owe you less than £125 each.

There are copies on the market at a lot less than the current cost of the castings:
http://www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-699 ... ilver.html

Mini spares offer them for £146 inc VAT when available.

I doubt the purchaser will be retiring on the back of them....

Can someone explain "HRG" please? I do believe I have one of these on my shelf and at that price I would rather sell it. I would like to know the story on these.

H.R.G made sports cars, and i assume other interesting mechanical item's during the 50's and 60's. The HRG rocker cover's were used on MG's I assume there own cars and on Downton tuned Mini"s,and i suspect one or two other makes. The rocker cover was used mainly by Richard Miles of London. That my understanding of it in short, from the research of my own restoration. I am sure there are more knowledgeable folk on this forum that could explain it better.

H.R.G. stands for Halford, Robbins and Godfrey
Well from the main site,
H.R.G. Alloy Rocker cover.

Finally the HRG alloy rocker cover is the ONLY alloy rocker cover I have seen itemised on an old Downton bill, this I might add was a Richard Miles (Downton) London bill, not one from Downton Engineering works in Wiltshire. The HRG cover was by far the most popular alloy rocker cover produced in 60's and was offered widely by a variety of different tuning companies

Just over £100 a wheel, not too bad really in my view.
