It always was in the October auction Tim, not the September one. The auction site was a bit ambiguous.coopertim wrote:Don’t think it sold? It’s in the October auction now.

That cooler will be goosed. The engine will be in a shocking state, looks like it's been pulled out of a river!

Yeh, it's hard to see anything of much real use there isn't it. As you say, without a chassis number and little chance of getting a V5, it is only worth the value of the parts.... Which, to somebody, is still a few grand I suppose. Gosh, it IS rough isn't it!
Yes Andrew, we think we've found a suitable candidate for the award of a "Genuine "S" which is EVEN worse than yours"

Maybe I should have rephrased Uncle Tom's kitchen drawer (on another thread) as Uncle Will's kitchen drawer

That said, he is much younger than me, so maybe 'nephew' Will's kitchen drawer would be more appropriate

Always good to know that my car is (was) not the bottom of the pile condition wise. Although it could still qualify as worst pre-restored shell.

Also up for offer with the crust S is a de-seamed S. Cut the seams off and cut the value in half?rich@minispares.com wrote:fancy wanting to be like andy sparrow.....

Think I'd rather have this 1600E for half the price

Is it actually an S though? The description has a ? after the S at the end of the description title. I didn't see anywhere it is claimed to be an S.surfblue63 wrote: Also up for offer with the crust S is a de-seamed S. Cut the seams off and cut the value in half?

Interesting car, it is on an F plate (67/68) but has a late MK2 shell (69/70) unless it has had the rear seat back/bulkhead replaced.
If the description is accurate, whoever did the bodywork did a good job given the time since it was done.

But what an amazing rescue job. I don't know if this sold/how much but it won't be cheap. There's something about wrecks like this that fire the imagination like a restored car doesn't.mk1 wrote:That S is even worse than I imagined!

Whoever buys it, if they rescue that shell they'll have as much fun as I am at the momentCostafortune wrote:But what an amazing rescue job. I don't know if this sold/how much but it won't be cheap. Re: At The Auctions
A couple of interesting ones at the H&H Imperial War Museum, Duxford sale on Wednesday.
Is this the oldest surviving MG Metro Turbo? The MOT check site lists it as registered on 31st January 1983. As there are only 21 1983 Metro Turbos shown on the How Many Left site this one must be one of the earliest, if not the earliest. It's only had 2 owners and has not been on the road since 1990. Mileage is only 49,000, but the hydrogas looks like it needs a bit of work and looking at the engine bay shot it appears to have lost its turbo!!

The second is a '63 Austin Mini that has a bit of classic rallying history. It also has a fully modified engine (960cc) and large history file.

Went for £18k plus premium, and that had to be put to the family selling, but doubt they’ll turn it downAndrew1967 wrote:Whoever buys it, if they rescue that shell they'll have as much fun as I am at the momentCostafortune wrote:But what an amazing rescue job.
