Ive been running the engine in with my Aldon Red dizzy while i was putting a few quiet miles on it, i eventually put my CSI dizzy in on Sunday along with a new Bosch coil and plug leads, all in a bundle you can get from Swiftune. Then a run on Mini Sport's rollers on Monday to get the fuelling and timing adjusted to suit the new engine, again as I only have about 120 miles on the engine we just sorted the bottom and mid range and then a quick blast to make sure we wern't running weak at the top end, and wow :o its transformed the car ! 8-)

So a few more miles on it and then hopefully another run on the rolling road prior to Harewood, still haven't got my Avons on yet, Thought id wait till i've finished on the rollers

So a bit of a catch up for those that don't follow the "Minis in Motorsport" thread

Harewood was a damp / dry day in June, achieved my PB up the hill but still way off the class leaders, it was the first run with the new engine and tyres and I think i perhaps was a bit hesitant on the runs, so dissapointed with my class result but happy with my PB

On to Barbon, had two cars to get ready for the event as my son Nick was using our other car DJJ266H, and another wet Barbon !, bit more confidence with the car, and the Avons were awesome in the wet, a class win was the result and I was only a second off my dry PB from 2006 ! in torrential weather, and was looking forward to the next Barbon in July ...................

which didn't happen in this car, as i got an Entry for Chateau Impney the week after, I decided to dual Entry with my son Nick in our other car DJJ266H to keep KEC ready to go for Impney, Nick getting to within 0.22 of me !

my now natural pose !!!!!

So bit of prep for Impney, so fortunate to get a run here, massive thanks to Pete, I was hoping not to be to far down the results in such illustrious company so being 8th in practice, 7th on run 1 and 6th on run 2, on best time run 7th in the 20 car class, was more than I could ever have hoped, and I was quite emotional at the end of the final run, i would say probably the best event I've ever done, and i've been competing off and on since 1982, and done somewhere near 100 events

So that's it for this year !, Blyton 2020 I presume will be its next outing, and then anything else I fancy, nothing planned really at this stage, see what other forum members are up to and hopefully join them !

Pic just sent to me by the Chateau peeps !

Hi Steve,
Hope you are well?
Photographer David Reay djreay14@gmail.com has asked if I will pass the attached image on to you, as he put ‘lots of cars managed to get one wheel up going around Raven’s Crest, but this Mini was the only one I saw to manage two wheels in the air!
I hope you enjoyed the event.
Kind Regards
Abi

It makes me think modify and risk the wrath of the purists. But would be done with respect to the original shell and early 60’s period. OEW is definitely a good option to keep it Morris and early colour.

I decided I would try to compile a list and photos of all the events ive competed in KEC, then I extended back to my Subaru etc etc then all the way back to 1982 !, some pics on the event, some before, some after, which off and on has took me 6 months

So I now have a picture and results of pretty much every event ive done in the last 38 years, all in event order on flickr, just need a few results to complete

101 events to date, Road Rallies / Stage Rallies / Sprints and Hillclimbs, wont appeal to everyone as its not all Mini's and only a handful are Mark 1s !

Steve, You have obviously had too much time on your hands

What a great chronology!

I wish I had kept track of all the events I had done, but most are lost in the dim & distant past. I rarely took any photos in the early days.

But here's one. Around 1983 on the old course at Harewood.
