Hi Frank, good to hear from you, I look forward to seeing the 1275GT photo! You could also maybe post it in the long running 1275GT thread!
This was my 1965 Mk1 Mini also in 1974 the year I passed my driving test, this was just after being updated to the 'Mk2/3 Mini look' I had also fitted 6" Mambas and Goodyear Rally Specials the first 165x10" tyre I had seen suitable for road use....I remember being really excited to buy them and finally have a 10" tyre wider than 145 which did not look stretched on a 6" alloy rim. Mk1 but with Tilling winding windows...I bought the doors complete secondhand from an Exchange & Mart ad for about £25 the pair with tinted glass...happy days.

Originality always looks nice when you see shiny, freshly restored Minis at shows, but I wish there were more about that looked like this, just how I remember loads of Minis round our way when I was growing up.

Here's another example of the kind of Mini I'm talking about - I've just been watching an episode of the 1969-71 BBC series 'Paul Temple' on youtube which features a customised Mk2 Austin Cooper, with two tone gold and black paint job, Webasto roof, Moto-Lita steering wheel, period wooden dash, tinted glass and factory fitted recliners... the glass in the rear quarter lights is mounted in rubber channels like some Wood & Pickett Minis... ;)

Why did they do it like that? Were they using Mk1 glass, I think it spoiled the appearance of the car. :(

I think some of them had two panes of glass, not sure why!

My next modified Mk1 Mini a couple of years later in the 1970's, was heavily influenced by the Dunlop Formula 70 ads in Triple C.... :D

I've got a set of 4 Formula 70 tyres on Ronal alloy 10" wheels which I found at the IMM 2008 in Holland. The full set of tyres came later thanks to the owner of a yellow Minisprint. Display only!

Did you know that HCG700 with Rob Slotemaker behind the wheel won their class in the very foreign 1963 Timmelsjoch hillclimb in Austria?

I'm surprised that 700HCG hasn't been miraculously resurrected.

Yep, been wracking my literary brains too. Best I can come up with is
'.....you're welcome to try, but you'll need more than a mini to keep me satisfied, sonny Jim...'
