"Mick Davey Er, its not a W&P shell. The boots spare wheel well is actually part of a white Skoda Estelle bonnet (note its too shallow), the vinyl roof was fitted by Pounds of Baldock in Hertfordshire, sold for £120 a few years ago because it was a patchwork quilt shell. Good luck to the next owner, they'll need it!
PS it used to be my wife's.
It was a Standard Clubman, converted to look like a W&P about 20 years ago by a company in St.Albans, the missus knows who, (she'll have a look for it on her computer when she's stopped laughing). :-D" end of quote.

Went to see another mini the guy had for sale and sore the above shell, it really is horrible. Story goes that he bought it unseen and got it transported back then realised just how bad it was !

Great news,

the interior from the nice WP Innocenti Landau featured as centerspread in Peter Philby,s book Amazing Mini has turned up.

It was stolen many years ago, and the car was unfortunally left outside for a long period.

The owner of the car, has now established contact with the guy who has the interior.

Top monstrosity is my pic, taken in '99 at Bank Garage Minis when I went over for a sly shuftie, the vendor who shall remain nameless made out it 'belonged to John & Yoko' but he had no log book etc, etc. Very interesting car, the interior was very swish for the period, the XJ6 rear lights looked odd mind. Badged as a Mk2 S but had a 1071 in it at the time, so he said anyway.

More great news, a deal have been made, and the owner of the WP Landau now has most of the original interior & dash board reunited with the car.

Door cards are still missing - guess the doors were sold off seperatly ?

Unusual finishing touch around the rear panel?
Would be good to see a wicker work mini on the mini scene, anyone got one?
The wicker must be a bugger to do?!

Yes!

Some wickerwork / paint on this early Mk3... it's from some news footage about 'Carlos the Jackal' in the '70s...

Years ago I found a French web site which showed how it was done. It must have taken weeks to do just one car. These days you could probably get one of those car wrapping firms to print some/cut some on their laser guided equipment.

Renault sold a model of R4 called the Parisienne in the 1960s that had wicker panels.

You used to be able to buy fake sham-caning (wicker!) on a roll from the back pages of the old car mags, can't imagine what that looked like or what a nightmare it could have been to apply!

They did just that on the 90s Radford evocations. There was one down my way a few years ago and it didn't look too bad from a distance but was certainly not as nice as the hand painted versions.
