What also needs to be done is to educate pedestrians and cyclists about the rules of the road and some common sense !

Yesterday whilst driving home and down a 30 mph lane to my house, I encountered an adult cyclist cycling towards me on the wrong side of the road .. the brainless moron made absolutely NO attempt to move over to the correct side and guess who had to move to avoid him !! Now under the new rules of the road if I had hit him, as the bigger vehicle, I would have been at fault !!

And no, we don't need cars that do over 100 and 0-60 in 4 seconds ..

I hope Welsh cyclists remember to give 1.5M clearance when they overtake us car drivers!

Have to smile at these, and boy does it feel slow at times. Found myself humming the Who song's lines 'creepy crawly' - no idea where that came from?

Wales, lovely place, what is the government there doing, what will be the impact on tourism, will there be more road rage, what will be the impact on the economy….

Last time I went to France it was 30kph with speed humps all through the villages, no interest in going back, won’t look to book a holiday to Wales again now, don’t drive into London if I can avoid it, such a shame the U.K. seems to be taking backwards steps when we used to innovate and drive change for the better.

The petition launched on Monday is getting close to numbers that reflect the voting in Wales!! It has gone up by 250 since I started to write this message!!!

https://petitions.senedd.wales/petition ... 6E_xXSUp-c

"almost at the 440,000 people mark of people who voted for Labour in the last Senedd election and not far off the 559,000 people who voted for devolution in the first place".

It's infectious,we had cyclists here in Adelaide South Australia demanding 30 kph limit in the city.
Experience is what you have immediately after you need it.

Posted locally online today - says a lot ;-)

Bus troubles now as busses take longer and driver hours cannot be extended, nor extra money to fund it I'd imagine?

I don’t know what is best but living in wales I can no longer drive at a speed I consider safe, it is 20 or nothing.
Unless you are a child wearing a balaclava on an electric motor bike, a disabled person on a mobility shopper, a cyclist or if you’re driving a stolen car, in which case go as fast as you want.
They spent a Bob or two changing all the signs here. Personally I’d rather see more police officers.

Last two years we took holidays in Wales in our Camper lovely place & very few potholes in roads .. fair enough they did like their Speed Check Vans in what were remote 40mph areas.. will be interesting to see the outcome of that petition ?

Today took the 1071 out through some Oxfordshire Villages now with the speed limit reduced to 20mph .. 1071 was like a naughty dog it did not like 20 speed limit.. perhaps its time we throw out the Hot Cams to suit todays 20mph road driving.

Update: The Welsh Government is now going to reverse parts of the controversial £34m default 20mph speed limit - the policy is in response to “consistent” concerns raised by "a lot of people" and follows a severe backlash to the government's initial plans, which saw a Senedd petition opposing them reach almost 470,000 signatures - the most ever. Demonstrations were also held, with protesters brandishing banners and placards opposing the plans. The government said it was now looking to support highways authorities when making decisions on speed limits:-
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c51ydq51e57o

It will cost £5 million to revert the roads back to 30mph, the process will begin in the autumn....the default 20mph policy was introduced in September last year, with the promise that lower speed limits would lead to fewer collisions and people injured. The Welsh Government provided funding to Wales' 22 councils for new signs required to alert drivers of the speed limit.

I wonder if the tax payer will ever get any of the £100 million back that was wasted setting up Manchester’s ridiculous 500 square mile Clean Air Zone that was also axed. It’s fair to say there’s certainly a lot of idiots in charge of a whole lot things aren’t there.
