Re: EBL 56C
I seem to remember the original car was hit by a Triumph Stag! That must have been alot of work just to get the loom out of the bent original and into the Mk3 let alone to do it all again back into the Mk1. These old competition cars really did lead a hard life but it’s refreshing to see some continuity and hear how they survived one way or another.

Re: EBL 56C
The Geneva picture No 64 is in fact the 65 Geneva, and is EBL55C.
EBL 56 C was no 75 on the 66 Geneva Rally.
The later pics on the Marathon are in fact mine, taken with a Nikon camera I borrowed from Paddy.
My car at the time too.
A great week in my life.

Re: EBL 56C
Quite a lot of previously unseen photos appearing on Facebook recently taken by Dave Godwin, here’s but one of Marjatta Aaltonen and Carolyn Tyler on the ‘66 RAC. The car is ex works at this point as far as I’m aware, owned and run by BVRT

Re: EBL 56C
Is Rupert Jones still with us? Just wonder as I meet Hubert Hofmann recently who helped Rupert during the '66 Danube Rallye by translating the race directors instructions (the Austrian race comitee was aledgedly unwilling to speak English for the participants from abroad). This in turn led to Hubert getting known to Brian Gillibrand, who was grateful for Huberts help, and who, in gratitude, gave him the honour of receiving an engine built by BVRT for his participation in the Austrian Touring Car Championship.

Re: EBL 56C
No sadly not, pretty much the entire Vita team have gone now, Rupert being one of the first. Only found out Gillibrand had gone last year.

Re: EBL 56C
Very sad to hear. But I do experience this myself in taking my old racers interviews, I have a constant fear of coming too late.
Ageing sucks, but the alternative is even less desirable.
