It seems that the car above (or one claiming the identity) is still taxed. I wonder if it still has those headlamps :?

GTX....... yes... At one time a car numbered GTX 401 L (GTX for oil) lived in or near Newbury

Great photo, anyone know the date ? Obviously post 64…..

Presumably the white numbers are order numbers ?

I was under the impression that after final assembly they were painted as a complete unit, I feel like that photo was taken prior to painting?

All the Mini engines/gearboxes I remember back in the day came factory painted all over green (BMC) or all over black (BLMC). I think it was only when the A+ arrived in 1980 that yellow 998 blocks and red 1275 blocks appeared with unpainted alloy gearbox and flywheel housings.

It does look like the far left engine had the water pump removed after painting? And the heads don’t look painted?

And are they at final assembly before installation or going off for paint next?

Would be interesting to know all the details
